The 2009 report identified the limits required for the global ecosystem to be sustainable and secure. It was written that, if these limits were to be greatly surpassed, a series of catastrophic changes would follow. But since then, security has been joined by another idea: that the earth’s system will not be secure so long as it is also not fair.
Blah, blah blah, blahbity blah blah blah.
Mmkay. Whatevs.

that the growing hole in the tropospheric ozone layer has fallen from the list: humanity was able to solve the problem in the nick of time.

These included, among others, the availability of fresh water, the conservation of natural areas, pollution levels, the ozone layer and, of course, climate change.

Has the credibility of "science" ever been lower?

AI and fricking around with deadly viruses in shithole countries will kill us many, many years before any of those issues are ever truly a problem.

It amazes me that idiots buy into the idea that the earth is running out of water and other resources.
Except for the stuff we put out into space, everything that existed here 1 million years ago is still here. Same amount of water. Renewable energy is a farce. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed it only converts forms. The earth has a natural cycle that keeps it in balance and part of that cycle is a changing climate to maintain balance.
The planet won’t be destroyed. However it will change over long periods of time and we simply need to stop being so arrogant to think we can stop it and start accepting that maybe changes will occur and we must adapt. That may mean coastlines will one day look different. Areas that are habitable may one day be a desert, and areas that are uninhabitable may one day be habitable. Odds are it will happen so slowly nobody will ever notice the change in their lifetime
