There's a significant genetic factor in being shy......outgoing.............talktative...........stoic...........risk taker...........risk avoider.

In fact, there's likely a significant genetic factor in virtually every behavior trait known to man.

I'm not sure why the gay folks think this is some "aha" moment.

This is very simple. Many of those traits you mentioned are present and noticeable from a very young age. One side of this argument is telling you the "choice" to love people of the same sex is as much of a "choice" as being born with an extroverted or introverted personality and the other side of the argument seems to believe the inner-desire for someone to love rainbows and penises is a choice apparently being made in active perpetuity and in denial of how they should actually be feeling because of the Bible.

An introvert can pretend to be an extrovert, they can even force extroverted behaviors, but their brains are hardwired differently than an actual extrovert and except in incredibly rare cases, they will never become a true extrovert. (Brief aside, there have been documented cases of cranial trauma that has completely and irrevocably changed a personality type. This, by the way, doesn't help your side of the argument.)

Homosexuality exists throughout the animal kingdom, this is a fact, and it has a biological basis, this is also a fact. Yes, at the end of the day, a gay person is making a choice whether to put that penis in his mouth in the same way you're making a choice to lick a vagina. I like vagina and I presume you do as well. That doesn't mean everyone is hardwired the same as us to like vagina.

One of us is saying homosexuality is a way of life, a way that some people are, and that they should not be punished for being themselves and loving another gay person. The other side is saying it's an abomination, it's immoral (whatever the frick that means?), it goes against my fairy tales and that they should be punished for it in some capacity. There licking penises isn't hurting anyone (usually). It doesn't (usually) infringe on anyone else's rights, except your right not to bake them (or anyone) a gay cake or a cake you don't want to bake, which I do think is your right.

You've brought some really great stuff to the table, I wanted to let you know I'll be indisposed for a few hours but that I'd be replying to it tonight.

I'm not really on a "side" as I don't consider it being a choice or not to be terribly important. It has zero effect on my views on issues.

Um. I don't think it's an abomination and.........frankly, while there are absolutely some biological components, we also KNOW for a fact that not everyone who is gay has those components. So.........

Regardless. It isn't important to me in terms of my views on issues.

I agree. I really don't care what they wish to do with other consenting adults.

Well then. We actually seem to largely agree save some minor variances.

If your argument is that there's no gene that makes you an autonomic penis sucker, you've now crossed into an entirely new territory of whether we truly have free will or not.

It’s very old territory. Religiosity is heritable. Alcoholism is heritable. We legislate the hell out of those poor alcoholics. When they’re simply acting on their heritable traits. And the Christians who believe homosexuality is a sin are influenced by their heritable traits.

I’m sure you come down on the side of anti-Judeo-Christian morality no matter the argument. But you may want to think about it for more than 5 seconds.
