Jumped into the thread a couple times today and aborted a few posts because I don't figure it will be a popular post. Oh well..
Chanting "send her back" just feels gross to me and it plays right into the narrative that the MSM and Ilhan Omar want to set... that Trump supporters on a broad scale are xenophobic bigots who want to remove minorities from the country and that Omar is such a victim of the Trump fueled bigotry that has taken over the country.
I think Ilhan Omar is a piece of shite. I think she believes America has always been and still remains a bad place and she wants to fundamentally overhaul American culture and politics. But she's also a United States citizen and enjoys the full protections as the rest of us.
Conservatism is rooted in the freedoms of the individual and standing firm against a tyrannical government. The idea of the government "sending back" an American citizen sounds pretty damn tyrannical. Even in a satirical/mocking tone, it's an idea that's antithetical to conservative values and it's not a good representation of Conservatives.
Theres this political tribalism that's taken over the last several years...sort of a "we good, they bad" set of battle lines. They said shitty things first it's fair game now. Meh. If the left throws shitty temper tantrum and acts like awful people, don't respond in kind.

I figure if you pulled individual chanters from the rally, most wouldn't be ok with actually sending her back as a governmental policy. It's the old idea that you can get a large crowd to start chanting anything. It's still a bad look that lets us be painted with the broad brush of bigotry accusations.

You know I figured this would be a response to my post. I agree with you to some extent. It's what I and a lot of others like about Trump. He fights back. He doesn't try to calm the waters under the belief that if hes nice to them, the MSM will be fair like spineless Mitt Romney.
The MSM aren't friends of conservatives. they don't like us and look to smear us at every turn. That's what gave us Trump. We were sick of being smeared as bigots and Trump showed up and basically told them to GFY. I'm glad conservatives are pushing back against the left.
However, what I don't want to see is the tribal mentality that's infected the left. They see us as the morally repugnant scum of the earth evil people. That's why they call us every form of bigot, Nazis and fascists etc. Personally I think it's good to push back but not cross the line of being petulant children who say awful things.

She was already citizen at the time of the marrying her brother incident. His citizenship could be revoked under the charges of fraud. As a citizen, she'd be jailed for it just like any other citizen.
