They need to rewrite the disability laws to qualify for SSDI. That’s what is killing SS faster than anything, not the retirees. If you have ADD or overweight you can qualify for SSDI benefits.

How about raising the SS "Trust Fund" interest rate to competitive standards rather than a rate below that of inflation to defraud people.

Life expectancy in the US is like 77 years right now. Yes let’s make everyone pay into something for almost 50 years only to get maybe 7 or 8 years out of it. What a fraud. Just scrap the whole thing if you’re going to do that

I'm 77 and still paying into it since I still work.

SS will be reformed when the interest rate paid to the "Trust Fund" is equivalent to other sources of borrowing. It will never be fixed as long as it pays about 2% interest that is half the rate of inflation. And now with an inflation rate of 7%, it is even more of a "real steal" for government to pay around 2% interest!

Politicians who perpetuated this scam and skimming program should be in prison.

If you're waiting on a certain age to retire because of SS, something is seriously out of whack.

So, wealth redistribution... Unless we're going to have a social security flat tax, which I'm also in favor of.

Just privatize social security.

social security exists for 2 reasons. to buy votes and steal from it. how does privatizing it help those 2 purposes?

The life expectancy was 2 years less than withdrawal age when it was enacted. It was designed as an insurance policy if you outlived your retirement savings…… Future politicians fricked the program up.

This should not be on anyone's radar. We have more important things to deal with right now.

There will not be a single person on this forum who receives more money or benefits as a result of these changes.

Things would be different if senators were forced to take social security instead of their sweet arse pensions.
