Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says "Ms. Hoda Muthana is not a U.S. citizen"

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Wednesday that an Alabama woman who joined ISIS but now wants to return home with the 18-month-old son she had with her ISIS husband will not be admitted back into the United States, saying she is not a U.S. citizen.
quote:
“Ms. Hoda Muthana is not a U.S. citizen and will not be admitted into the United States,” Pompeo said in a statement. “She does not have any legal basis, no valid U.S. passport, no right to a passport, nor any visa to travel to the United States. We continue to strongly advise all U.S. citizens not to travel to Syria.”
quote:
She is being held in a refugee camp in northeast Syria and told The Guardian in an interview that her last four years with the terrorist group have been a traumatizing experience where “we starved and we literally ate grass."
quote:
Muthana first made headlines in 2015 after it emerged that she left her family in Birmingham, Alabama to join the bloodthirsty terrorist group.
quote:
In 2015, Muthana reportedly operated a Twitter account and once tried to use it to incite Americans to commit acts of violence amongst themselves on national holidays. “Americans wake up! Men and women altogether. You have much to do while you live under our greatest enemy, enough of your sleeping!” she once wrote, according to The Guardian. “Go on drivebys, and spill all of their blood, or rent a big truck and drive all over them. Veterans, Patriots, Memorial, etc day … Kill them.”
quote:
Now Muthana is not allowed to leave the camp she is being held at and has to be escorted around by Kurdish fighters, more than 6,500 miles away from the Alabama city she once called home.

Can we get some background info on her family? Why are they in Alabama?

I'm seeing mixed messages on this...was she never a US citizen, or did her citizenship get revoked?

I am not sure. In the article it says that She was born in 1994 in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Crazy that an ISIS defector thinks they can just return home after they lose. No sympathy here, you knowingly join a terrorist network, you should be glad you aren't spending several years in Guantanamo.

What I don't understand about this whole situation is this: She traveled to Syria. Married a terrorist. And now WE (the USA) want to hold her accountable???
There must be something I am missing. Since when do people get held accountable for their actions? Seriously, holding her accountable seems right out of the twilight zone!

“The Trump administration continues its attempts to wrongfully strip citizens of their citizenship,” Shibly told AL.com. “Hoda Muthana had a valid US passport and is a citizen. She was born in Hackensack, NJ in October 1994, months after her father stopped being a diplomat.”
Most people born in the United States are accorded so-called birthright citizenship but there are exceptions.
Under the Immigration and Nationality Act, a person born in the U.S. to a foreign diplomatic officer is not subject to U.S. law and is not automatically considered a U.S. citizen at birth.
Seems like the feds are saying she was never a US citizen based on being born to a foreign diplomat

Hopefully her camp gets a yuge case of dysentery.
Hope she dies in a puddle of vomit and sewage.

If she was born here she is a US citizen. She can return and face the consequences of joining a terrorist group.

I would rather her starve in her chosen land, being degraded with her chosen people, practicing the life she chose
It is the American Dream to get everything you chose for yourself. I dont want to deprive her of it.

Was she in the country legally to begin with? How?
