It was designed to make things like tariffs hard, for a reason.

You think we can suddenly pass tariffs?
Probably not, and that's the point of the Constitution.
It is designed to limit federal power and the emotional whims of the mob. Literally. Earlier today I posted quotes from Federalist 10 arguing just that.

If they decide the tariffs can be struck down, what are Trump’s options?
Pass tariffs the correct way and stop acting like Obama with a pen and a phone
Seriously. Do you post what you do just to be an arse and see how other posters that do not agree with you respond, or is what you are posting really your political views and feelings?

This. Can you imagine how fricked we'd be having to wait for Congress to act in trade deals? Manufacturing would be gone immediately.
So frick the constitution because you think the president needs to be able to tax the citizens at his own whims?
No thanks.

That is exactly what is happening.
Why should any president have the power to tax the American people at his whims for political agendas and influence?
Are you going to feel the same way if a democrat gets into office and starts passing heavy tariffs on industries and things they don't like? Or to hurt industries they want to phase out because they aren't "green" enough?
Will you then start to think - OHHHH, that's why the power to tax the people isn't in the hands of a single individual and such powers were given to congress!

If the Supreme Court says the tariffs violated the Constitution (the premise of OP) and your solution is to have Trump ignore that because he can't pass them legally, via Congress explain to the class how its not.

Every war Trump ended would still be going on.
These people are stupid.

This already happens.

Are people still trying to pretend like it's not the American citizens who pay the tariffs?

This already happens.
And it shouldn't. Here we go again with allowing the times the "other party" shits on the government to be justification for taking those actions further down the line.
The standard isn't what the other "side" is doing, the standard is the constitution.

Those of us living in reality can plainly see prices aren't skyrocketing.

My point is that this is already viewed as legal by both sides.

So basically tariff meetings with our president should actually happen with Congress?
If this is upheld to restrict the president from entering trade agreements then buckle the duck up
All countries will openly defy our demands until Congress acts

Prices are constantly going up. Your claim of "skyrocketing" is just trying to raise the bar on what is acceptable to high rates of it.

It's only "legal" in times of emergency, which is why Trump declared it an emergency. And even then it's only legal because of congress.
But that's not really the point, I wouldn't be surprised if they allow it to continue. It just shouldn't be happening at all. And it's pretty stupid when people celebrate a tax.

You do realize the Trump admin acknowledges they need Congressional approval and the dispute is over whether the legislation they're citing actually gives them the power for these actions, right?
The admin is effectively arguing that any legislation that kind of/sort of grants them tariff power, gives the an admin effectively infinite power to act. It's similar to how the Biden admin tried to shoe-horn student loan forgiveness into the HEROES Act.

Letting Congress decide anything nowadays is literally screwing America
They’re inept
So many are just fine with Government waste and America being screwed Internationally
