I suspect that this has to do with masks resulting in a lot more face touching due to adjusting the thing, causing itching, and such.

==========
Unexpected results in a huge study. Some of the conflicting studies on masks noted that people wearing masks touch their face more often to adjust the mask, scratch and such. Curious.

>The most recent wave of data, covering early February, includes about 12 million students, of whom 6 million were in-person (this is about 20% of all school enrollment in the US).

>In areas of high community transmission, masked school students saw a case rate (defined here as daily cases per 100,000) 37 percent higher than non-masked school students, or 19 cases per 100,000 in 'no masks required' schools vs 26 in 'masks required' schools. Even worse, staff experienced a case rate 84 percent worse in masked schools, at 19 cases per 100,000 in "no masks required" schools vs 35 in 'masks required' schools. In areas of low or substantial community transmission, students experienced no difference in case rates while staff numbers in "masks required" schools were slightly worse.<

But, where have they been allowing kids to go to school without the stupid assed masks on? That's what I'd like to know.

I tested myself for the fun of it on a street walking several blocks in a shopping, bar and restaurant area. I walked one way with the mask and back without it. The urge to fiddle with the mask or scratch under it really was strong.

Without the mask, I didn't touch my face at all on the return trip.

Probably some rural privates would be one guess.

In his defense, Faucci said this in March of 2020 on 60 min. 2017 guidelines on influenza risk reduction did not reccomend masks.

Then came Public Health Policy Karen...and no one seems to be capable of pimp slapping her into silence.

Studies on masks or no masks were always muddled with a lot of if/thens. Face touching and the type of masks produced conflicting results from study to study.

Looks like face touching is the likely problem in schools.

There was a test done decades ago that had a group playing cards with one person in the group having a cold. Half of the players wore fencing-like mask that prevented them from touching their face and the other half did not. Those who could not touch their face didn't catch the cold and those who could touch their face caught the cold.

My kids have been in person since last August. They haven't wore a mask in the last 2 months. I don't think it is as contagious as they claim.

We are also talking about kids. Healthcare professionals are trained on the proper use of PPE.

School aged kids aren't, and probably can't be adequately trained.

So the entire exercise of making them wear them is futile and cosmetic. Even if the device is effective, it has to be properly used.

My kid's school got rid of mandatory masks a few weeks ago.

Unexpected? I think not

Only an idiot would think having kids wear masks all day would do a bit of good

It’s more than that. It’s sadistic bordering on evil.
