So minorities do slightly better than students with disabilities? Give that school more money and teachers higher salaries stat!
It's walker. They don't have many minorities in walker. Lol having 10 do well isn't some huge accomplishment.
And yes. I do understand the grading scale. It's obvious that it isn't equivalent to the grading scores we use in a pass fail way. But to act like 52% of our students aren't even at a BASIC level of understanding the material is awesome and to tout it as some massive accomplishment is a joke.
I mean shite. Just amazed me that they touted that number like it's amazing. It's embarrassing.

It's walker. There's all of 10 minorities in the whole school system

But this highlights the arbitrary and often unsound way of these ratings; it doesn't mean the tests are poor (could be) or that the students are dumb.

I'm not in education, but my job makes me privy to some not-so-well-known details about certain school districts.
From that experience, what I can say is, how do the graduates of this public school district fare when moving on to college? Likely, not well, as I have seen first-hand. Not at a big state school or well regarded private school, especially. They fail out.
Late add: It's a symptom of political correctness run amok. We are doing these kids no favor whatsoever by blowing smoke up their arse and letting the real world kick the hell out of them.

I was 1 of 15 or so who went to college. 1 of 4 who went to LSU, (15 Miles away) and I want to say only 5 or 6 of us graduated from college.
I will say I struggled a lot early on at LSU. But that was strictly my own fault for partying and not giving a shite about class. But I got my shite together and graduated. Not in what I wanted but whatever. Actions have consequences and I fricked myself over.
But yeah. College is not on the radar for a vast number of walker kids

For this year, the categories were changed. You now have Mastery and Above as well as Needs Support. The Needs Support group includes those that score at a basic level. This is indicated on that report under each category header.
As a result, it's not accurate to say 52% are scoring below basic. A considerable percentage of those 52% are highly likely to be at the basic level.

My grandchildren go to South Highlands in Shreveport. Their on track rating is 91%.
My kids are making straight A's and they can read and write way above grade level.
The key is that you can't get in unless you're smart. Therefore my kids owe their success to genetics. Do they ever thank Grandpa? Nooooo.
