Not in dc.
It's not that he spoke there.
He and his people were too stupid to cover it.
He can't intimidate people as a whip if he can't beat the press.
Like I said. Toast.

I agree. He will be out as the MW at the least

The liberal media will have a field day with this and he won't be majority whip much longer. It would be nice if a non-racist republican challenged him in the primary.

I guess that's why Scalise confirmed to WaPo what Lamar reported. Any other messengers you want to attack?
If Washington Post (an actual news source) and Scalise's own people have confirmed the report, then fine. I can now say I believe Scalise and anyone on his team at that time to be complete morons for giving such a group his time.
Would you take Free Republic or Michael Savage's word on something without another source verifying? Because that's pretty much what Lamar White is, the fringe of the Louisiana Democrat Party, and he is filled with quite a bit of hate himself, make no mistake about that.

FWIW, the back and forth between lamar white and scott mckay has become very hostile...and very entertaining.

Scalise is Catholic he is not exactly the type of person this group wants as a member. This will blow over because its ridiculous on many levels.
Plus this is when he was a state legislator with only one person on staff. The staff person who booked the event for Scalise was current Louisiana Legislator Cameron Henry.

Still no excuse for him to appear in 2002. The idea that he didn't know a group about European-American rights might be suspect is crazy.
I'm catholic and it's no defense that he didn't know the groups agenda. Plus if you look at what he said, he was making a play to a racist group.
Just because he's catholic doesn't mean he can't be a racist. A lot of racist catholics out there.

I've never heard of the group and I suspect that many more haven't either. These people speak to 4-5 groups a day everyday. He isn't racist. He also spoke at the NAACP event in New Orleans--so how do we define him now?
Posted on 12/29/14 at 7:42 pm to MrLSU
We define him as an idiot and denounce him as a conservative.
The sooner conservatives are quick to cut out this poison the stronger they will be. He knew exactly what type of group this way. Every pol has a fact sheet to glad hand donors.
He will have no influence on the hill now. It's just a matter of how he exits. He will probably do a press release this Friday - dead time after a holiday.

Wasn't it great when the Democrats ran Robert Byrd out of office?

Why would you bother asking when this guy has visited the current White House 81 times? BTW has he paid his taxes yet?

Louisiana Democratic Rep. Cedric Richmond defended colleague Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) in the midst of reports that Scalise spoke at a white supremacist convention in 2002.
“I don't think Steve Scalise has a racist bone in his body," Richmond, who is black, told the New Orleans Times Picayune.
"Steve and I have worked on issues that benefit poor people, black people, white people, Jewish people. I know his character."

Damn. That's a classy move on Richmond's part.

Obama attended a racist church for 20 years.

Scalise will be OK because he confronted it head on. Yes, I attended. No, I did not vet properly, and that was a mistake on my part. No, I do not agree with the views of the group, but this is a mistake from early on in my career and I apologize for it.
Also says a lot that Cedric came out for him.
I don't think it's a nail in the coffin, solely because of how upfront Scalise is being with it.
