But in the interview with NBC on Friday, Ryan said he believed that Scalise supported McCarthy as the next speaker. "Our leadership team, I'm saying," Ryan clarified. "I'm not saying every single person in Congress." Asked if it was his understanding that Scalise felt that McCarthy should assume Ryan's role, the curent House speaker said "that's right."

Should be Massie or Amash for speaker. That would make too much sense though.

Yeah, let’s put the guy who just whipped the votes for the last omnibus in charge of LA’s budget. Great idea. This is why we never get real conservatives in office, people forget when they get sold old by politicians.

Scalise gets to be Majority Leader which is pretty damned influential and can direct the vote amongst the Republicans. Maybe he can get us a better deal on offshore royalties and some more highway funds....mainly for his district

.....or maybe what you think is conservative just does not work in the real world politics. Nevertheless, Scalise is pretty damned conservative, he's just not a reactionary one.

Those dudes are clowns. They liken me to the two old guys up in the balcony on the Muppets. They say all of the "conservative" things, but they can't point to one real accomplishment....either in or before they were in office. They just spout the shite they think you want to hear

The question is this
Which person would immediately shut down all funding to the Muller witch hunt and move to impeach Rod Rosenstein the fastest?
That’s who I want

scalise isn't the type of guy to openly buck leadership i dont think. more of a behind the scenes powerplayer. also, i'm sure he has to be thinking the last thing Republicans need is an open leadership battle leading up to midterms

But if he is not going to be speaker I hope he will consider running against JBE.

Nah. It’s just that the rest of the feckless GOP (particularly leadership) won’t back them in any truly conservative legislation. Don’t confuse legislative accomplishments with success.

True, but he’s much less of a rino than Kennedy.

I’ve known both for years, Steve is a good guy and an old school Republican (think Bob Dole), Kennedy will do or say anything to get elected, and a weirdo (think David Vitter)
