I was showing that "cultural law" is just complete BS.
But that's a phrase solely of your own invention.

oh and to be clear this isn't about the ten commandments being law this is about religion. also from the article:
quote:
The Oklahoma Legislature has taken other steps that many believe blur the line that divides church and state. The House speaker said he wants to build a chapel inside the Capitol to celebrate Oklahoma's "Judeo-Christian heritage." Several lawmakers have said they want to allow nativity scenes and other religious-themed symbols in public schools.
Rep. Bobby Cleveland, who plans to introduce a one such bill next year, said many Christians feel they are under attack as a result of political correctness. He dismissed the notion of Satanists erecting a monument at the Capitol.
"I think these Satanists are a different group," Cleveland, R-Slaughterville, said. "You put them under the nut category."

it's not about freedom of religion to these people
just freedom for christians, that's it

Please, give me one good reason why the ten commandments of your religion should be front and center at the Oklahoma State courthouse and no other group's commandments should be? I assume you see the point in the group wanting to put their commandments there--and i'll give you a hint...It's probably not because they really want to actively "spread" satanism

evolution was widely skipped over in my highschool. We briefly spoke about it and it was optional with parents signature for that class period.

The reasons why the the commandments being displayed at a courthouse and why it is relevant and acceptable has already been listed throughout this tread. And the reasons why the satanists display is not in the same category has also been explained. Just read the post.

It should be easy enough for you to summarize it in a sentence or two

The Five Civilized tribes of the southeaster USA were already practicing Christianity, mostly Presbyterianism, before the Indian Relocation Act sent them to OK.
If anything, it's the people of Mississippi, the Carolinas, Georgia, etc. who were responsible back east for most of the wrongs. Most of the white land runners were mere commoners looking for refuge in that region.
I highly doubt the white pioneers living in covered wagons had much influence as the regional elites running the plantations back east in Dixie.

quote:yeah not in dispute that some did. However it was certainly not everyone as the cherokee religion is still practiced today in oklahoma. Oh and if you look it up and do some actual research you'll see places like dwight mission were reipened to expose the cherokee indians to christianity more because theg were still practicing their pagan religion

I think it's nutty that you're so intellectually dishonest in this thread
Also somewhat humorous that you're debating a guy named False Prophet

Since we are in the era of renaming monuments and university mascots, why not go ahead and do away with parishes in Louisiana and take down the three giant crosses in Baton Rouge. Also, we should remove the Andrew Jackson statue in New Orleans as it may offend certain Native American OU fans who will be in New Orleans soon for the Sugar Bowl.
Hell, let's go ahead and find a new president to put on the $20 bill.
I'm a natural born Atheist and former leftist who once rejected an offer to join the Communist Party USA on the account of it being still too far TO THE RIGHT! And believe it or not it actually was too far to the right at one point in my life, but I still get sick of all the identity elimination taking place in America these days.

Private property. Different ballgame.
Personally I don't care if someone wants to put the 10 commandments in front of a state building. But they probably shouldn't freak out when another religion wants to put their shite there.
