There is the crux of your entire argument. Atheism is not a faith, religion, or association.

FWIW, non-religious people feel the same way about devoutly religious people.
Interesting.
I generally think of nonreligious people as more intelligent than that.

So, while religious people put out messages about their faith and philosophy, "non-religious" people, in your estimation, have nothing philosophically positive to offer? Yet you draw an equation.

Yep. Interesting.

what exactly are you looking for in terms of statements about the people who made the statue?
The thing he doesn't understand is that no one, besides the people who put up the display, owes him a statement on this issue. Period.

well there's a lot of people that are pro freedom of religion, but in reality it's just pro freedom of THEIR religion.

they don't believe in the rights of others to believe in whatever they want to.

the other reality is that none of the religious displays should be at governmentally funded buildings or property. but since they let the christians do it, they've opened the flood gates for satanists, muslims, and the flying spaghetti monster crowds to put up their displays as well. the christians started this and are now mad that other religions want to be on an even playing field.

He wants them to say sowwwy because it gave him a sad. This is ludicrous. People can say whatever they want about religion in a public space.

Do I find it distasteful? Yes, but not anymore than the countless evangelizing religious people who are also pushing a philosophy.

again, i'm goign to sound like a broken record, but look at our societal indicators. violent crime, property crime, abortion, teen pregnancy, etc all going way down. lots of positive indicators (especially world wide) are going way up.

I agree, but it's missing the point. There are a myriad of causes for the uptick in quality of life factors, for lack of a better term. First and foremost is technology (a very broad, perhaps over-broad, catagory), and there is cheap fuel.

I'm not even saying that we are necessarily "on the brink" of a major collapse, although that's a strong possibility. I tend to think that we will pull out of this postmodern age before major damage is done.

What I'm talking about is more metaphysical. It's a sense of discontentment with the past and the cultural structures that remain. It's mostly fueled by ignorance, where it is never truer that a little knowledge is a bad thing. The movement is broad but shallow, where sound byte wisdom trumps delving deep for true meaning.

It's the fuel for Idiocracy. It will get worse before it gets better.

what do atheists believe in?
believe in not believing?
it's the literal lack or absence of faith.

Yeah, this is what I think this is really about. It's a statement about the presence of religious displays on public property. It's not about atheism or antitheism--it's about separation of church and state, and in particular, the inappropriateness of the appearance of a government endorsement of religion.

nothing! no crosses, so flying spaghetti monsters, no muslim shite, no satanic bullshite. nothing!

but they don't, and this is what we're now dealing with.

the atheist groups want to "stick it" to these places that allow christian displays. that's it.
same with all of the other faiths. everyone wants to be represented and be treated the same as the christians.
I just wish someone would step in and tell them no.

Saying they don't worship Satan is akin to saying someone does not suck a dick simple because they only hold it in their mouth until the swelling goes down.

These so-called "atheist" Satanists can claim they don't worship Satan but their actions say they do whether or not they believe they are. Look at the definition of the word "worship"....

quote:

wor·ship
'w?rSH?p/Submit
noun
1.
the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity.
"the worship of God"
synonyms: reverence, veneration, adoration, glorification, glory, exaltation; More
the acts or rites that make up a formal expression of reverence for a deity; a religious ceremony or ceremonies.

What they're doing is textbook worship, even if they're stupid enough to not realize they're doing it.

Let's be real, it's an atheist organization based in lack of affection from one's parents.

that's the nature of progress. you find which structures/systems work and keep them. you throw away the others

that's how we develop

i don't see how this applies here. the CoS isn't some new thing. it's like 50 years old. that search you ask for is present, too.

say what you will about the CoS, but they are anti-idiocracy. traditional churches are much more pro-idiocracy these days

nope. nothing of the sort

they have nothing to do with Satan. Levay just was being an attention whore (and it worked)

how are they "worshiping" Satan? are you claiming rationality is Satanic in nature?
