Remittances should be taxed at the maximum income tax plus full payroll taxes. If the person pays income tax, they can get a credit for remittance tax paid after showing 3x money sent out or greater.

It's a hot topic, confusing to alot of folks, not saying that you are.

An immense amount of wealth leaves this country, both legal and illegal.

I think while this is true, I have no problem with the scenario you described- like you said, it's her money earned legally.
