Are unemployed, on welfare, transplants, non business owners, poor and living in poverty.

Those are the people that re elected JBE.

Being the incumbent he’s favored by 3-4%.

5% of the state is unemployed so he got their vote.

18% of the state lives in poverty, so he got their vote.

That says a lot about how pathetic this state is.

Over 130,000 Republicans voted for him. Blame them.

That's what happens in a state election where people are more flexible with their vote and it's not as emergent do or die situation like Trump and Hillary.

You just cannot piss off voters you will need later, you just can't do that.

I really respect your opinions on La politics. You seem to be very engaged and informed on the current state of affairs.

Am I off base? What am I missing ?

Doesn’t it at least send a message that JBE only won by 1% given the demographics of the turnout?

Yep, IMO, the soft hearted Abraham voters let their feelings get in the way and it cost this State big time.

Not to mention the record number of black votes. Something doesn’t add up.

The rankings lists were such an ignorant hill to die on for republicans with Edwards. LA has been at the bottom of those lists for a long time. The fact that We still are after 4 years of Edwards meant what exactly?

I’m not saying Edwards has been an effective governor but that wasn’t a great play.

Rispone alienated enough Abraham voters in North Louisiana that it provided EBR and Orleans parishes an opening to get JBE the win with their high turnout machine.

Kyle Ardoin faced no such problems in North Louisiana and thus EBR and Orleans couldn't touch him.

Well, a win is a win.

JBE does not have to posture for reelection anymore.

He's free to do whatever he wants now and whatever he does is as good as anyone's guess.

And we'll find out the next few years.

And it was so avoidable had Rispone not panicked and shite in his own hat by going negative against Abraham.

It's almost like someone amended the Constitution a long time ago to make sure that people other than white male property owners could vote. When did that happen?

North LA is predisposed to gravitate toward conservative Democrats... those Abraham voters probably were for JBE anyway, they just needed a reason
