Because a US official was concerned that it would fall into the hands of the Russians.
And that in no way indicates any illegal or bio weapon activity.
As if “secret bio weapons program” is the only reason the US would be concerned about it property, interests, and research being seized.
Nuland very specifically stated it was a concern that the Russians gain control of what was being done at the lab.
If it's NOT ours, how do we know what's going on in there? How do we know there's something to fear?
