The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it summoned U.S. Ambassador John Sullivan on Monday in Moscow to formally protest President Joe Biden’s decision last week to label Russian President Vladimir Putin a “war criminal.”

Sullivan was told that Biden’s accusation had put “Russian-American relations on the verge of rupture,” according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry translated by NBC News.

Biden said Wednesday that he believes Putin “is a war criminal” for ordering Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine. It was the first time Biden had publicly branded Putin with that phrase.

Maybe he is. Either way Biden should shut the frick up. I have absolutely zero confidence or trust in any of these people and it’s scary.

As a US top official, I wouldn’t have the balls to say something like that, only because that type of hypocrisy would likely blow up in my face

I find this HIGHLY unlikely.

Putin may be a lot of things, but the man is NOT stupid.

He knows Tater Joe is a complete and total moron along with his entire cabinet and everyone pulling the puppet strings behind Crack Pipe Joe.

People called Churchill reckless for his rhetoric.

Labeling Putin a war criminal was idiotic. It effectively forces him to fight-on. Stop now and face an international court?

We read he reached out to China (maybe, maybe not). We read Belarus is preparing to invade. Again, who knows.

Putin has no off ramp, in large part because of our positioning.

This administration is a diplomatic catastrophe.

Reading and listening to mainstream outlets makes our "free press" look more and more like Pravda every day.

Sad.

The President’s #1 job is to protect the country. How is publicly calling Putin a war criminal help with that?

I hope John Sullivan threatened to get Kamala Harris on the first plane to Moscow if Russia didn't ease up on the rhetoric.

Just as relevant, how is it hurting that?

Part of protecting the country is economic stability. War disrupts that as you might have noticed. Calling out bad actors is a responsible act because it lets others know which side we're on for sanctions.

I don't know if it will make any difference in what's going on. But obviously Putin doesn't like being tagged a war criminal. So I wouldn't take it back. You know sticks and stones and words.

After you implicitly make 2 nuclear threats towards NATO/ US? Economic sanctions only seen by N Korea/ Iran & you think it's " on the verge" ?

They know Biden is a senile and ill old frick who does what his handlers tell him to do. The US and Russia will resume some normalcy once Trump is back in office.

Remember when democrats were bending over backward to restore and normalize relations with Russia? Right up until Trump came along, then they were willing to undo DECADES of diplomacy based on lies, just to regain power. Now, we are essentially right back into the cold war era we grew up in.
