Ukraine? Sure, they would crush Ukraine. The EU? They’re not interested in going to war against the EU. They don’t even have the money for it.

If the US stayed out they could take Germany in an hour. Germany only has 10 Serviceable airframes.

10.

Lol. The mighty German army is pathetic.

Why do they need an army when they have us to foot the bill and defend their worthless arse. They spend that money on German social programs instead of a military.

Zelensky knows that if those two breakaway republics gain autonomy Putin will use them to destabilize Ukraine. That is why he is wanting to retake control there. That is why he has recently called for fast track NATO membership. Germany and France are not going to support him. Obama and Soros created this mess with their 2014 coup. The latest that I have heard is Zelensky and Ukraine will attend a Peace Summit with Russia, Germany and France. Putin has a lot to lose if he invades. The west will turn against him again and it might be the end of Nordstream 2.

Don't forget about the TurkStream pipeline. It is the other half of Russia's plan to bypass the pipelines in Ukraine. It looks like Turkey basically announced over the weekend it would side with Ukraine if fighting broke out. Both Turkey and Bulgaria can stop the flow of gas through their countries which would be another major blow to the Russia's cashflow. This all bluster on Putin's part to try and get Zelenski to restore water to Crimea and to distract the Russian ppl from Putin's horrible job of handling covid in Russia (the last time I checked the USA was vaccinating more people in one week than Russia has vaccinated in total).

Damn even after 25 years of corruption and negligence Ukraine had more than 10 planes serviceable.

Anybody willing to go die so our politicians can continue laundering our "foreign aid" dollars in Ukraine is too stupid to be in the gene pool.

I joined the Army reserves so they would pay off my medical school loans. If a war intensifies enough that I get activated and they tell me to go to Ukraine then I do not really have a choice now do I? Also the MD behind my name guarantees that I am smart enough to stay in the gene pool.

Erdogan can't be trusted. He said that he supports Ukraine but also called for the situation to be settled according to the Minsk Agreements.Erdogan also has a claim on Crimea for Turkey. Erdogan is a loose cannon and talks out of both sides of his mouth.

Ukraine recently said that they have plans on putting their old Soviet era jets in hanger. They are talking about purchasing modern French or American planes.

In war games it always ends in a nuclear exchange.

There’s just no way to contain a conflict and keep it a small war.

Have you ever thought that this situation in Ukraine
might be being pushed by the neocons in Washington as a last ditch effort to kill Nordstream 2? That would not surprise me at all.

Saddam wasn’t dumb enough to use WMDs against coalition forces back in ‘91. Putin wouldn’t be stupid enough to use WMDs in a NATO/Russia war. Putin is not stupid and Putin’s psychology profile is one who wants power and glory. Using nukes guarantees that his power and glory is over.

Then explain how we have gone almost 80 years without having a major conflict between nations ot alliances of nations?

Yes I read that too. The last I read was they were trying to decide to go with a light fighter like the F-16 or Gripen or a medium fighter like the Rafale or F-18. I think that a light fighter makes more sense for them because they are cheaper to fly and they don’t have an endless budget like our military does.

Which ever fighter they choose needs to be parked where it’s safe from drunk drivers though.

I'm no expert.

But in my decidedly amateurish observation, the major powers have gone out of their way to avoid potential conflicts on or near borders of an opposing power. China went apeshit when we crossed into North Korea, which was one of the few times someone squared off. We bowed up to the Soviets regarding Cuba off the Florida coast. By and large, you stayed away from each other, and played in 'neutral' areas where there was no threat to anyone's homeland.

Ukraine shares a border with Russia, as well as being a former Soviet state. This isn't a dance in Syria, Central America, etc.

Putin's overall goal in life is to return Russia to its status as a global super power and go down in history as the redeemer of Russia. That is how he wants to be remembered. Launching nukes against the USA or a NATO member would result in a retaliation. Both sides have ABM systems but some missiles and bombs would get through. More than likely enough nukes would get through the ABM systems and detonate to throw enough radiation and debris into the atmosphere to cause an ice age. The vast majority of Russia already has short growing seasons and they would get even shorter (not to mention be poisoned by radiation fallout). Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the other major population centers would be destroyed and millions of Russians mostly ethnic Russians would be killed. If there are any survivors of the nuclear attacks in Russia would not be ethnic Russians they would be asian Russians. So Putin would not go down in history as the redeemer of Russia.

Putin is not addicted to crystal meth and a delusional schizophrenic like Hitler was. He is rational enough to realize that a nuclear attack would be the death of Russia and the death of his legacy.

It would also not end well for the USA and the rest of the world but those considerations are less likely to enter his mind than the ones affecting Russia and his legacy.
