As "clever" as you think your response to my post/question may be, you actually just avoided it. You're just a redneck racist (not just because of this thread, although it helps) OR you're a troll. One of the two.

I think it would be bold to cast Mel Gibson as Shaka Zulu and portray him as a Scotsman who migrated to southern Africa and won the hearts of the tribesmen in order to lead them against the British.
Samuel L. Jackson should have been cast as William Wallace in my opinion.

You don't think it's a clever solution because you didn't think of it.

You deliberately left out the third possibility.
The third possibility is that I'm correct.

And I wont go see that movie either....

You picked the wrong white actor to knight for your racially motivated cause. Joaquin Phoenix is great for plumbing the depths of psychological angst and portraying rage, desperation, etc. This has little to do with the swagger, machismo, and physical action of James Bond.
He lacks the presence that Bond should have. Of course he could do it, but it would be super weird and a whole new direction for a suave, studly action hero. Disastrous if you ask me.
Youd have been better off sending up Clive Owen (as someone mentioned) as your white alternative. But Elba is still better suited imo.

Your opinion sucks!
They are all ACTORS, idiot.
This is not a case of John Wayne playing John Wayne.
A great actor like Phoenix can play any role better than an mediocre actor like Elba.
Having to portray the swagger, machismo, and physical action of James Bond would be easy for Phoenix to do compared to portraying the psychological angst, rage, desperation, etc. of Freddie Quell.
Gawd, I can't believe I actually have to explain this to idiots like you.

aha---so let me get this straight....if we could all agree on who's better than whom, we could just make a list of 1 to a thousand and rank the 1000 best actors ever in tv or movies.
Using that list, we could cast an ideal movie based purely on this ranking, because "best" is all that matters (except skin color of course
Woody Allen's Rambo would have been better than Stallone.
Harvey Kietel's Indiana Jones would have been better than Harrison Ford.
Gotcha.
and you called me an idiot (twice)

Sorry, but I wasn't the one who used the word, best. Someone else used the word, best when they said that Elba would make the best James Bond.
I disagreed with the statement that Elba would make the best James Bond and said that Phoenix would make a better James Bond than Elba because Phoenix is a better actor than Elba.
The other nonsense in your post is just the ramblings of an idiot.

Now that I think about it, Elba is the best actor to play Bond, Julian Bond.

There is an attempt at continuity between actors centering on Bond's wife. It actually spans between George Lazenby, Sean Connery, and Roger Moore. Daniel Craig's Bond is a reboot. If we were to have a black Bond, then I imagine that there'd have to be another reboot, since Skyfall gave us three new regulars.

best James Bond
this is NOT the same thing as best actor.
lets follow your logic
Your justification of the odd choice of Phoenix was that he is a better actor than Elba. (the REAL reason is of course is his skin color, but since you claim to have worked for civil rights 50 years ago, I'm not allowed to call you a racist, right?)
I point out that while that may be the case in the big picture, there are many reasons Elba is more suited to play Bond.
You ignore and dismiss that post and repeat that Phoenix is a better actor, calling an anonymous person on the internet an idiot (twice).
I point out the absurdity of that distinction as the sole criterion for casting an action hero spy.
You again ignore the post and repeat that Phoenix is a better actor and that someone you have never met or spoken to is an idiot.
quote:
because Phoenix is a better actor than Elba.
you've said it over and over and ignored the idea that "best actor" is not what makes someone well-suited for a particular part.
I guess there is nothing else to say to you. If you were a Hollywood producer, I would wish you the best with your brooding, disturbed, hare-lipped psychopath version of James Bond. Ill take my chances with a suave, sophisticated, erudite, Bond built for action, intrigue and breaking ladies hearts.

Dawgfan has repeatedly shown his arse and his blithering idiocy in this thread (which I can't believe is still going, tbh
).
There's not much more to say other than he is a bigot of epic proportions

Hey Rad, I see you are a Harpo fan. Here's a trivia question. I read Groucho's autobiography. In childhood his parents demanded that each child learn to play a musical instrument. Harpo played the harp. Chico played the piano. Groucho never played his instrument in a movie. What was it?
No fair looking it up.

I think he started out as the singer of the group when they were kids. Not sure of his instrument, but since it was likely one that he could sing while playing, and Chico already had the piano, I'll guess guitar.
Yes, I think Harpo is the greatest physical comedian of all time, and a genius that influenced essentially all comedic entertainment that came after him. The Isaac Newton or Albert Einstein of comedy, if you will.

I'm not sure there is a downside to this.
It might inspire young black men to dress well and speak properly.

The white bond had been around so long it had already inspired all the trailer trash rednecks it could. So its maximum potential had been reached.
This is a new thing and has more upside.
Geez, I'm finding a good reason to support a black James Bond and getting dumped on.
