This isn't a "the pipeline shouldn't have even happened" discussion. There's two sides to these things and one side doubles down that the pipelines are perfectly safe for the environment. When something like this happens no one should be flipping out on the messenger about bringing it up. It happened. We dismantled the EPA, I even agreed with that, I was just asking if we have something to ensure this is maybe more preventable or someone is held accountable in the future.

No mode of transportation is 100% safe. The only real alternative to pipeline is rail and trains derail all the time.

Well I'm glad this didn't fly off the crazy handle like pretty much everything on this swamp board.

FWIW, bentonite clay suspended in water is a great agent to separate poisonous heavy metal ions from water.

ETA: your wife and girlfriend probably uses it as a mud mask too.

Cause it is a "mud" that carries fluids to and from the drill bit, but has to be heavy enough to not let pressure get around the pipe and up to the surface..which would be a blowout (bad)

I actually didn't even know about this pipeline. I had to drive home and back the other day and took two different country routes about 40 miles apart. I came across massive pipeline being installed both times.

It was not operational on those parts of the line so I was surprised when saw this story.

regs

stringent regs that control how such companies may do their business.

all the adolescents side with the companies. DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO. I KNOW HOW TO DO X.

PS. its all about the benjamins. ILLth is the idea that companies muck up our land and water and air, and the people pay for it in hidden and not so hidden costs.

the regs make the companies bear the cost.

ending regs means you, the taxpayer make up for all the mistakes companies do.

Dems make companies be more responsible. onerous regs. tsk.
Republicans pretend that nothing really ever goes wrong. they are kissing WTO butt. You pay the price in bad water, diseases, bad air, diseases, and the company keeps the cash.

surely there can be a balance which does not disincentive companies to do business in the US while at the same time protecting our air and water?

The argument is where that balance lies, not whether or not Republicans hate clean air and water.
