I read some controversy here. I think Kavanaugh has once written that a President cannot be prosecuted for certain crimes that he has much jurisdiction. That said Rod might see that if they have something on our President that Kavanaugh would throw it out because of his belief that a president cannot be prosecuted. Just my hunch. Screw Rosenstein little smurky bastard

There is a LOT of info to go through and determine what is privileged ( from his time on administration staff) and what is not, etc.

This is just getting extra lawyers to clear things fast enough to get to a confirmation decision.

Some of you are guilty of what the leftists are: assuming everything the "bad guy" does is nefarious and dastardly. This is not that

Yup, this is apparently common practice, just not to this extent. Sounds like he’s trying to get through it sooner rather than later with the fight coming from the Dems

While Obama was President, he argued that a President should be immune from indictment while in office because it would tie him up in that bullshite and effectively stop him from doing the job the people of America elected him to do. He said that if a President had committed some offense, that the legislative branch already had the tool to deal with it, impeachment.

Hard to get upset here without knowing who all was available and why the choices were made. Seems like it would be too obvious and heavy handed for the goal to be nefarious but you never know

Edit: could this have something to do with the lefts claim that Justice Kennedy and Trump supposedly had a deal to pick Kavanaugh if he retired? Maybe another pretext for another BS investigation?

If he did? So.....

Never happen. Not by Sessions, anyway. I have given up on Sessions. I believe a statue would get more done than has Sessions.

Your obsession with Sessions is cult like

He's not doing his job and is not providing oversight/supervision of the Department of Justice. He should be fired if he is not willing to perform the tasks for which he was appointed.

Rosenstein Asks Prosecutors to Help With Kavanaugh Papers in Unusual Request quote: WASHINGTON — Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, has asked federal prosecutors to help review the government documents of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, according to a letter obtained by The New York Times on Wednesday. Mr. Rosenstein’s request was an unusual insertion of politics into federal law enforcement. While the Justice Department has helped work on previous Supreme Court nominations, department lawyers in Washington typically carry out that task, not prosecutors who pursue criminal investigations nationwide. This should be interesting. ETA: LINK

Dude on Fox said this is SOP and in this case may speed up the dimwits request for documents, aka, remove an excuse for delay in confirmation.

I disagree for three reasons:
1. Rosenstein is apparently volunteering the help. If the Oval Office thought the extra help was necessary to confirm the nomination in a timely basis, they'd be asking for the help. But that's not the case. Rosenstiein is inserting himself into the process w/o an invitation.
2. Rosenstein's not using "extra lawyers", he's using PROSECUTORS. Why would he specifically want prosecutors for such a mundane job that could be handled by lower level lawyers? Seems like their expertise is better suited prosecuting cases.
3. At this point, I don't trust ANYthing that Rosenstein says or does.
