Roger Stone pardon incoming? Judge refuses to delay sentencing

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Tuesday refused to delay sentencing for Trump confidant Roger Stone on his conviction for witness tampering and lying to Congress.
The decision by Judge Amy Berman Jackson came after President Donald Trump tweeted in defense of his longtime ally and said Stone's conviction "should be thrown out."
Stone's defense team has requested a new trial and on Tuesday lobbied to delay the sentencing. But with Stone present on speaker phone from his lawyer's office, Jackson ruled that delaying the sentencing "would not be a prudent thing to do." Stone is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday.
However, Jackson indicated she would delay the execution of the sentence, pending resolution of the motion for a new trial.
Prosecutors had originally recommended a tough sentence of between seven to nine years in federal prison. But Attorney General William Barr reversed that decision and recommended a less harsh punishment, prompting the entire prosecution team to resign from the case. At Tuesday's hearing, two new Justice Department attorneys took the place of the original trial team.
Stone was convicted in November of a seven-count indictment that accused him of lying to Congress, tampering with a witness and obstructing the House investigation into whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia to tip the 2016 election.
Trump's tweets about the case Tuesday came days after he earned a public rebuke from Barr, who had said the president's tweets were "making it impossible" for Barr to do his job.
On Tuesday, Trump tweeted Fox News commentator Andrew Napolitano's comment that the jury appears to have been biased against Trump and calling out the judge by name, saying "almost any judge in the country" would throw out the conviction.
Trump added in a subsequent tweet. "Everything having to do with this fraudulent investigation is badly tainted and, in my opinion, should be thrown out."

Trump nees to stop being a little chickenshit and pardon Roger Stone, General Flynn and tell the haters to frick off.
They hate you either way and will howl about it anyway.

quicker he is sentenced, the quicker he can be pardoned.
IMO, trump is waiting until sentencing, or appeals process is played out

The President can pardon Stone anytime he wants and a sentence or appeals process won't make a bit of difference to that if you want to wipe the conviction away with a pardon.
However, if we were talking about a commutation, that would be quite different.

It will be appealed...then hopefully a retrial granted then.

Shouldn't pardon him.
He should commute his sentence

And fire that "judge" while he's at it

Look if Stone committed the crime he shouldn't be pardoned.
The issue is there are deep staters that have committed the same crime on video and the DOJ has done nothing.
But what Trump should do is wait for the sentence then commute it.
The left will scream that Trump pardoned him and it will be all out fake news attack until they finally realize that Trump didn't pardon Stone but simply commuted his sentence.
This will allow Stone to go on the offensive and right after the election in November then Trump can fully pardon him under the justification of "fruit of the poisonous tree" after MUH Russia hoax is fully exposed.
But in the meantime give deep stater Judge Jackson enough rope to hang herself.

bullshite... the "crimes" Stone committed were process crimes from an investigation that was illegal from the start as part of a "special counsel" that had no reason to exist.

All part of the plan.
Force Trump to pardon.
Impeach for pardoning.
Rinse.
Repeat.

Judge Nap was on Cavuto and said the judge has put a gag order on Stone after his conviction which he said he has never heard of. Nap also said the judge shouldn’t sentence Stone but order a retrial. So the question that Cavuto naturally didn’t ask the Judge Nap is, “Is this abuse of power by the federal judge?” And “is this an impeachable offense?”

That judge and judges like her are fricking abominable. There doesn't seem to be anyone above them to provide checks and balances.
If someone is above them, and that someone calls the judges out, then the judges just scream about how it's unfair to be called out. If someone is below the judges and calls them out, the judges just threaten them.
In either option, a corrupt judge still just keeps chugging along. Without worry of anyone holding their corrupt asses accountable.

While I agree with you, a trial was completed and he was found guilty. So he should neither be pardoned nor have his sentence commuted.
What should however happen is a new trial, given the information that has come to light concerning the jury as well as exculpatory evidence now available.
