quoteBodi White was a bad candidate to run against her.

Bodi was a well funded, bad candidate. Without funding he would have lost by more.

I met him at a meet and greet and was very disappointed. He had no fire, no personality and seemed to be just there.

I do not agree with Broome's politics, but I agree, she seems knowledgeable and I'm going to give her a fair shot.

I've never met him, but he absolutely tanked during the last debate. Not just a bad showing, but an absolutely pathetic one.

Of he white candidates, the only one arguably worse than Bodi was Delgado. I voted for Gissel because he was the least economically retarded person runnig, so of course, he came in damn near last place.

That's because Broome wants to continue the ongoing renaissance in downtown, where as Bodi wanted to cut downtown off from money to focus on the areas outside the city limits. This election was not about white vs black, but city vs unincorporated.

Sharon is not the economic illiterate that most people on this board seem to think she is. She's no Kipster, but she's a lot closer to being the next Kip than the next Dee Dee Slaughter.

Did he say that?

Yeah her business votes in the legislature really support this statement.

I think the money Bodi raised showed that businesses thought he would be better for them.

I'll agree that none of the candidates got voters excited, but I fail to see where Broome showed she's going to do anything for anyone. That's including NBR, downtown, and outside city limits. Her whole campaign was about unity. Cause that's what we really need.

I didn't vote for her, but she's not exactly Denise Marcelle

She is but she just isn't as loud and upfront about it. She has the exact same "values" and "morals" though. BR is about to see a huge uptick in violent crime and a huge economic slump

City v suburbs? Not a race thing?
I bet blacks parish wide went Broome 95/5%.

I never heard Bodi wanting to cut off downtown. He would be crazy to advocate that.

He advocated law and order, education and improving traffic.
Not very well, but that was his main platform.

I have repeatedly heard Bodi, not in his ads or debates, state that we focus too much on revivig downtown, that all of the downtown development district is a waste of money , that money needs to be diverted from downtown to the surrounding unincorporated areas. That has been a key talking point of his for years now.

I've never heard him say that and I spoke with him in person, besides the DDD tax is voted by the DDD and its levied on those in the district. It would be ludicrous to take that tax money and spend it any other place than downtown.

I find it hard to believe he said any such thing.

Didn't Broome want to ban liquor stores in NBR?

And burn a bridge with NBR? I don't think so. Where would people go to get blunts and a ole E-40?

Just weird that never came up or was discussed in 7 months, but if you say you heard it, then ok.

I guess they would need to hop the bridge to Port Allen and buy booze along with porno and sex toys.

That was Marcelle, and it was limiting liquor licenses for new bars and reducing the number of bars and liquor stores, not an outright ban (I think it would have cut the number of bars by about 30%). There's no money or corruption in an outright ban. One gets to accept lots of money in bribes if there's a shortage of licenses and someone wants one bad enough.

South BTR burned the bridges with sanity when they divided the parish, turned on Kip and tried to paint him as another bad black politician.

The reality is that Kip has been amazing for the "St George" area. The infrastructure improvements there have been great. He managed to be in office for 12 years without any major corruption scandals. He over saw EBR get the best credit rating in the state. He worked to improve downtown which brought jobs to us that would have normally went to NOLA or Lafayette. He did not use the BRPD in a political way nor did he cater to the BLM crowd.

The irony is that Kip ignored north Baton Rouge and yet south Baton Rouge acted like he slighted him. They even complained about him spending money downtown even though it was collected from a dedicated hotel tax that was only for downtown.

Icing on the cake is that desegregation that ruined Central and Zachary schools IS OVER and incorporating a city literally does nothing to get a new school district.

Then the mayor SG wants is a known crook and a thief and you wonder why he couldn't cross party lines?

For these reasons the SG crowd has been totally out of line and rooted in dis-information.

Now you're going to get what you said we had. You're going to get a racist identity politics mayor that will likely wreck shite.
