It use to be mocking and shaming abhorrent and ridiculous behavior was the societal standard to keep the freaks in check.......and then academia and Hollywood/pop culture WOKE America up to their insensitive treatment of fringe members of society.

I think what we're about to begin seeing is that a lot of celebrities aren't really progressive.

Ricky Gervais’ Netflix comedy special “SuperNature” has only been released on the streamer for a few hours, but it has already drawn criticism for a string of graphic and hurtful transphobic jokes

What a salty bitch you are, huh?

Just an atheist, so my panties didn't get into a wad about that movie. Of course, I don't get offended by any movie, because I'm an adult.

Though, you're angst here is exactly the problem these idiots on The Left have with comedy. It's super funny, so long as it does not touch on YOUR sacred ground, THEN it's offensive. I'd say it's a Lefty problem, but really it's a whiny dickhead problem. Gervais makes fun of everyone, but when he hits your thing...then it's terrible. Case in point with The Invention of Lying.

Tom Segura ran into this a few years ago when he made fun of Louisiana in one of his specials...which was funny as hell. As you can expect, Louisianians who had laughed at the whole show up until that point suddenly started clutching their pearls when he started making fun of them specifically. They then proceeded to make assholes of themselves online for weeks on end. Segura then proceeded to throw Louisiana under the bus EVEN FURTHER in his next special, which was the perfect way to handle whiny assholes like that.

Ricky is incredible. If you still have Netflix, go watch Humanity, it is my all time favorite special and I watch 3 hours of stand-up a day.

I never said I was offended, dipshit. I just said the movie is proof that he's extremely left wing. By his own description in fact, he is.

But he told a trannie joke, so fickle groupies worship him now.

Wow, I just read the rest of your post. You really are a pretentious cuck.

Actually, you didn't. You wrote this:

This is the guy who wrote 'the invention of lying.' He ain't your buddy.

But yeah, Gervais is on the left with most issues. I don't agree with him on many of those issues, but so long as he's not forcing his views on me (he isn't) than I'm a big enough boy to not get worked up over the issues on which we disagree.

This is where you start being all blueboy. No one is worshiping him. Many are actual fans of his stuff, and some enjoy this aspect of his comedy. Having to go to this kind of extreme sort of shows you're the issue here, not him.

I've been around as long as you, champ. I'll take pretentious. Cuck? Try a different take.

Yeah, further proof that he's far left. None of that means I'm offended, though. Christians are an easy target. Let me know when he digs into muslims and i'll be impressed.

LINK

quote:

Comedian Ricky Gervais has hit back at protestors angry at the depiction of the Prophet Mohammed in a cartoon at a UK school, comparing the outrage to ‘insulting unicorns’.

The protest was held after a teacher at the Batley Grammar School in West Yorkshire showed students a cartoon of the Prophet, who Muslims believe cannot be depicted in art.

Gervais, 59, tweeted, “Blasphemy? fricking Blasphemy? It's 2021 for frick's sake. What next? People being punished for insulting unicorns?”

Haven't seen it yet, but apparently he pokes at them in this special. Someone that's seen it already can add some detail.

LINK

quote:

He has written new material on taboo subjects, including near-the-knuckle jokes about dwarfs, the disabled, Muslims and gay people.

Other gags tackle controversial topics such as rape, the migrant crisis and climate change.

And he will poke fun at big names including Game Of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage and the late Stephen Hawking.

Since I know this won't be enough, I'll add the tried and true atheist retort that we tend to talk about the major religion in our own country and the one we were likely raised in, which in his case and mine is Christianity. Doesn't mean I don't have the same issues or more with others, just that I'm more versed on the specifics on this one. It's the culture in which I live so it's the religion I'm most interesting in.

All that said, thanks for fricking up a perfect fine thread that had one purpose, enjoy some jokes at the expense of Trans Activists.

Then maybe yoyu shouldn't have harped on my second statement. My main point still stands.

Gervais is a court jester. He'll do standup routines and 'take those celebrities down a peg' and the masses will feel like they won something, and nothing will change.
