He's trying to simplify complicated finance situations to get some kind of "gotcha" moment.

Just switched over to his stream. Perry was getting boring.

I think this is going to be a much better hearing than the Perry hearing. Also more important.

Reason enough to consent to his appointment. She's hot, and that lip-licking thing she keeps doing ...

SEN. MENENDEZ: DID YOU CREATE THESE OFFSHORE ENTITIES THAT MOST AMERICANS CANNOT CREATE OR TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IN ORDER TO HELP YOUR CLIENTS WHO YOU WERE MAKING MONEY FROM AVOID U.S. TAXES?

quote:

MR. MNUCHIN: NO, NOT NECESSARILY. I WANT TO SAY THAT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE COMMITTEE AND AMERICAN PUBLIC UNDERSTAND THAT THIS WAS DONE SO THAT DIFFERENT ENTITIES COULD INVEST HERE SOMETIMES IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH TAXES AND HAD TO DO WITH WHAT THEY COULD INVEST IN AND WHAT THEY COULD NOT INVEST IN. IF YOU WANT TO PUT ME ON FOR THE ENTIRE HEDGE FUND AND PENSION FUND, WE SHOULD HAVE AN IRS SESSION TO GO THROUGH THESE ISSUES AND I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO WORK WITH YOU AND YOUR OFFICES TO GO THROUGH, THESE ARE VERY COMPLICATED ISSUES.

Sorry for the caps it was a quote

Actually Texas has become a giant in the solar and wind energy business since Perry took office in '00. He has always been about exploring all forms of energy and especially encouraging the private sector to innovate. The amount of wind and solar that Texas produces is very impressive considering it is a dark red state. Texas also has its own power grid and exports energy.

The only area he isn't as heavy on is nuclear but it sounds as though much of that is going to be shifted over to the Dept of Defense which is where it belongs.
