Rick Perry is a good man. I have met him several times. His statement does not come without some thought beforehand.

He was literally tortured in MKUltra programs. It wasn't psychosis, it was payback.

No, Timothy Leary's research peaked the interest of the CIA and he was transitioned from his academic position (where he was bumping into issues at Harvard because he was kind of a twat) to the clandestine MKUltra program where he continued experimentation and became the "face" of the hippie movement, eventually becoming a sort of distribution hub for large quantities of Sandoz Lab produced LSD across the West Coast. The feds bought the entire stock and then distributed it to California and New York.

If what you describe is in the book recommended, I recommend people look for other sources cause that's a total re-write of history.

We’ve already seen what prescription medication can do, when abused. And if you’re already struggling, I worry if you’re ready for that kind of mind alteringness.

Psychedelics are self-regulating as they have limited potential for abuse due to a steep dose gradient (tolerance) after initial use. Realistically, unless you have an unlimited supply, you will only be able to "trip" every 3 to 5 days at the most.

This is key. Because I don't think I've ever seen the word "cured" in a highfalutin medical journal. Usually, it's "significantly improves," but never "cures."

How do the uses / dosages prevent a “bad trip” and making matters worse. How controlled of an environment are the recommended uses? Hospital setting? Or are they anticipating just sending this home with them?

Dosage really matters. There is a threshold dose that micro-dosing is by design never going to reach. You have to truly go in to see best results. That would be in the 1.0 to 2.5 mg range. Higher doses can lead to depersonalization which can be scary for people who normally are controlling.

Hospital setting, any clinical setting, is going to be the wrong vibe for the experience and the patients are going to experience anxiety. Multiple comfortable areas of varying décor is preferred for indoors. Outdoors parks and other natural settings are appropriate.

Bad trips aren't "bad" per se. Except in severe cases where someone might hurt themselves due to intoxication, "bad" trips can be managed and may be just what the person needs in the moment as it indicates a deep seated emotion/memory that needs to be worked through or a personality "flaw" that the individual is finally able to recognize in themselves (which can be distressing to some).

An experienced guide is always better than an academic in a lab jacket imo.

Honestly this is a step in tge right direction. Psychedelics have great promise in treating a wide range of mental health disorders.

I read one study that said LSD reset the brain, their words, and restored more normal function, again their words.

That being said, the evidence for pscilocin is really promising. Participants in one study took a 1 time micro dose and experienced significant improvements in depressive symptoms that lasted up to 3 months post one time dose. That's insane. The dose was around 150mg. It takes atleast 1 gram to experience any visual distortions at all, if that puts it into perspective. I have some great resources on functional MRI's of people on shrooms, it's insane. Wave of the future in psychiatry

This is incredible to hear. It makes me think the biggest threat is from the entrenched drug companies - imagine a radically cheaper and less "toxic" alternative to constant pill regimens.
