RGB People's interview
"Asked whether the Senate was obligated to consider Garland, Ginsburg replied, “That’s their job. There’s nothing in the Constitution that says the president stops being president in his last year.”

Rules for thee but not for me.

This is like the Unwritten Rules of baseball, but guess what? Nobody cares - they don't mean a thing. Confirm a justice NOW!

Shoe was on the other foot at the time.

True! Both sides being extremely hypocritical. It’s just about power.

That’s not even the best part of the interview in the link
The SC is supposed to be apolitical. frick her, I don’t care what she accomplished. That has to be the most disgraceful statement from a SCJ.
quote:
“I can’t imagine what the country would be with Donald Trump as our president. For the country, it could be four years. For the court, it could be – I don’t even want to contemplate that.”
Ginsburg added that if Trump won the White House, her late husband, a prominent tax lawyer who died in 2010, would have said: “Now it’s time for us to move to New Zealand.”

Thanks for posting this. The President must put forth a candidate.
All of us remember cocaine Mitch in the wake of Antonin Scalia's seat vacated by his death. That was the work of genius (or debauchery depending on your politics...lol)
What gets lost is the democrats didn't protest, really at all. They never objected to fight McConnell who refused a vote. They simply let it slide...
Why, because she couldn't lose.
I remember and fault the Democrats for not doing anything back then. I always thought their arrogance and sufficiency was the main reason why Garland wasn't pushed for confirmation.

That was before her “dying wish” re-wrote the Constitution. Doesn’t count no more. Sorry.

A couple of other thoughts which should be mentioned.
- I keep hearing that RBG continued to want to serve, which I believed was incredibly selfish. Sure, she had some impact on recent decisions but, in true leftist style, may have lost the war in exchange for a couple of minor wins. If she wanted to play politics, she should have asked to be replaced during the Obama administration.
- Also, if the reports of her statement to a granddaughter are true (and I hope they aren't), then she's been surviving on hate for these many months. To allow her wish to become a cudgel for the left is wrong.
I guess it's just me, I can't imagine anyone in their final hours on earth being this way.
