re: Republicans in Texas are worried about 2020

Don’t look at the senate vote to get a sense for Texas, look at the governor vote. Beto spent a ton of money in a race against an unkikeable republican in Ted Cruz and still lost. The governor’s race was a landslide for the republican - that’s Texas.

If you're a right winger in Texas, you need to get active. We're going to need everyone if we're going to thwart the California money and voters that are going to pour in.
I contributed repeatedly to the Cruz re-election campaign. The election outcome was so close I was shocked. From the Tea Party in 2010 to now republicans have lost steam in this state. It is a white male older age demographic. There is no fire in the belly of religious conservatives and I know very few young persons or younger women in particular who like republicans. So I agree with the premise that republicans are in trouble in 2020 in Texas. And I really believe Trump is a millstone around the neck of the party. By the way, Obama targeting Tea Party Patriot organizations was wildly successful and part of his Fundamental Transformation thing. It worked like a charm.

I do, but that's part of living in Senate District 25.

I'm not looking forward to the double time march toward Socialism when Texas eventually goes blue forever.
The left has figured this out. Voters want to vote for more benefits for themsleves and to punish others for being successful.
Should hasten the end of this great experiment.
I'm more worried about SJW idiocy. The Trump tax cut was nice. Very nice. But it wasn't a game changer and if it expires in 2025 it won't be a catastrophe. The free stuff agenda at the AOC/Bernie level won't happen because it isn't mathematically possible.

Harris and Fort Bend counties in Southeast Texas mirror the situation in Orange County, CA., and Cobb and Gwinnett counties in metro Atlanta. As recently as 2014 all these places were solid Republican, now they're all blue, blue, blue at the local, state and federal levels.
How did this happen? It's just that Republicans have lost touch with suburban likely voters, with women in particular, with minorities (most notably Asians) who have gone blue in mind boggling numbers.

They won 1 US Rep seat for spending millions and millions.
US basis yes. Look at the Statehouse and especially the judges (which are elected in Texas) and the picture is straight up scary. I didn't realize it at first, but then I was talking to the wife of a state rep that lost (he is a R and lost to a D) in a VERY red district. The ds flipped 12 seats from red to blue and won just about every open seat.
The mix goes from 95-55 to 83-67. That is a big shift. It was an astounding outcome.
Republican Judges got whipped

I'll have my daughter change her residency to Texan now that's she's graduated and is staying in Texas for Med School. 1 more solid republican 2nd amendment supporter for Texas.
