Isn't Corey Booker the same LA rep who signed the "microchipping elderly/autistic kids" bill?
Drain the swamp. Reps from both sides that make it harder on ppl medically can GTFO.

Legalizing medical cannabis would lower medical Rx costs too, but that's too obvious & has been discussed ad-nauseum. The south needs to step their game up on this lest they lose the momentum they gained recently.

Texas is starting to get fed up & they carry the R's.

Apparently the issue was around drug safety standards, not simply importation of drugs.

Let you in on a litle secret. Those drugs that everyone is SOOOOOO worried about the safety of.......they buy them from the same guys that Walgreens, CVS or any of the independents in the US buys them from.

Billy Tauzin gets paid millions to scare Congress about "Canadian" drugs.

Hell, the US isn't getting drugs from the US.

They are importing generics from India. Some with noticeable differences.

That's such a stupid pre-text, yeah Canadian safety standards are not good enough for Americans

Unless, of course, there are companies specifically making drugs for the US that aren't following any specific standard.

He has to build up the donor list to make the next Presidential run. It is what it is.

Nothing changes.

Drugs approved for importation are in a separate category from a reimporter with an address in Montreal and a pharmacy in Barbados.

That doesn't fundamentally change the fact that this amendment still allows the FDA to determine what "safely" import means.

No one wants to be shite tier Indonesian knockoffs, but I can't think of a reason to be against the safe importation of drugs from Canada.

Unless you need big pharma to donate to your presidential run.

This. Plus, drug makes charge more to Americans because they can.

If an American dealer charged $10 for a pill, why the hell would an importer taken only $3?

You would almost certainly see manufacturers go to MAP raising the cost of drugs in other countries. Success!

Actually if they are under the CIPA banner, they are as safe as anythig you will get in the States. Tauzin will tell you differently. These guys(auzin, et al) actually try to prevent the plans from negotiating for better prices from Big Pharma....I know they did it with Medicare.

Canada's population is the same as California's. Do you think Pharma companies are going to ship enough meds to Canada to also supply the United States?

I'm talking about common drugs such as Adderral are being imported from India & the US has no problem with it ...& the quality isn't the same as before they used that manufacturer.

That's one instance, surely it's not isolated
India

Those pills from India are still made in factories governed by FDA standards.

Of course this isn't going to magically fix drug prices.

Between the population disparity and the reimportation costs it really doesn't move the needle much at all. At the same time if we can safely reimport drugs then I am for it.

Free trade is good for the consumer.
