My decision was really, really based on the numbers. All the testimony I heard by the proponents that children are getting mutilated, I didn’t see it in the statistics,” Mills said in an interview.
The findings of the Louisiana Department of Health when looking at their medicaid data and summarizing research were extensive. Importantly, they found that zero surgeries were ever done on minors in the state, puberty blockers were exceedingly rare, regret rates were extremely low, and trans youth had positive mental health outcomes. They also compared consent to transgender care to many other forms of care where medical consent on the behalf of youth is allowed. See the relevant findings

But I'm sure people will just attack the guy for not playing party politics

hahahahaha
Let's sit on our arse and wait for the problem to come to us, because nobody in Louisiana ever got a kook idea like creating a fake dick on a 12 year old out of a piece of arm from kook leftists from other states.
How many kids will need to be mutilated before it is ok to look into it?

Anyone in the medical industry should know that kids are not old enough to make this life changing decision.
Now they turn 18 yrs old that person becomes and adult. They make that decision and it on them.

So he relied upon the conclusions of an agency that's been under the control of JBE for 8 years?
frick that guy.
There's a special place in Hell reserved for him.
This is the same bullshite logic about trannies in women's sports.
Well, it's not happening here, so we don't need the law.
Then it happens.
Pass law.
Sued for discrimination because it is a targeted law.

I guess the alarmingly high suicide rate among trans people comes from them not being able to find Levi's that fit

as I figured, the data is fake and the boogeyman is real.

Reminder: this is the same guy that allowed the Covid Vaccine to get added to the mandatory vaccine list for kids attending school, knowing that he owned several pharmacies and would benefit handsomely from it

maybe it comes from other states where they are not as diligent and do perform surgeries on minors. that isn't a Louisiana problem

perhaps he is just trying to make money off hormone blockers, the data he cited does say that only 30-60 minors were prescribed those drugs per year though. Hard to see how that would be a HUGE financial windfall for 1 guy that owns a few pharmacies.

Idk? At least one?
This bill was a political stunt to make it feel like your politicians are accomplishing something so that you reelect them "we're stopping kids from being mutilated" despite the fact there were zero transgender surgeries done on minors in Louisiana.
Meanwhile we have thousands of actual problems in this state that our politicians ignore.

And there it is... I addressed that statement in my previous post.
Waiting for the first surgery is like sealing the hull of your boat after you're already underway

We need to make any business interests he has (many I'm sure) suffer greatly along with anyone that still does any business with him

Fred Mills is a pharmacist and a banker.
He is also a pay for play piece of crap.
I'm not surprised by this.

surgeries are already banned in Louisiana for minors
besides circumcisions
jesus christ you are so brainwashed that you obviously didn't even realize that when you came up with your witty response. The bill was a political stunt that is unnecessary because we already have protections in place for minors in Louisiana.
