The combined population of India, China, USA, Brazil and Russia is 3.75 Billion people. Literally half the world's population.

They have 1/6th the amount of internet posting arrests than the UK.

The UK has 60M people....

This was apparently a documentary.

If that monster on the bus stands over that Ukrainian girl, opens his knife, and screams "I'm gonna cut you to pieces, bitch", I'd prefer that she be able to claim assault, and not simply tell her "well, you're gay"

100%

People have this strange Western Civ idea because of America's relationship and heritage with the UK that we have and have had similar mindsets and ideology... Which is odd for all the reasons the US came into being.

About the only thing we've had in common is English (slumping in America), God (gone in the UK) and predominantly Caucasian (teetering for both).

I have to believe the US arrests have to do with real serious threats of a particular nature.

Someone was arrested in Hammond for posting a letter saying they wanted to kill a bunch of people at Southeastern. I think the 50 US arrests are of that nature. I’m ok with that. It’s not like they are held are prison long term. They just go on a watch list.

Just want to comment that you obviously cannot believe that Chinese number.

Its what THEY report. Which is, of course, a lie

People were telling Elon to ban the people on X celebrating Kirk’s death. That, to me, would “go against” free speech. (He didn’t ban them.)

people losing their jobs, however— that’s just a meet certain behavior expectations or get fired thing.

Those who lost jobs failed to act like civilized adults, so they were fired. Their firings have nothing to do with free speech. If an employee goes on x or Facebook or insta and posts a bunch of perverted stuff, and it’s called to their employer’s attention, they may get fired for such postings. Employees are at the mercy of employers when it comes to a lot of things.

And jimmy just flat out lied and further fanned the flames of the fires that led to Kirk’s death. That plus his terrible ratings is why he got fired.

He murdered her and didn't say a word. There's no other way to interpret it than "no law". It's like when science claims everything came from nothing. Nothing means nothing, no law means no law. An idiot can interpret it just as good as a genius.

But....

I'm pretty sure the Supreme court has already handled a few of these.

I can interpret "no law" as good as anyone. I don't need the supreme court to tell me what it means

Well then go give it a shot...see how it works out for you.

While you're at it give out your wife's name and email address to every freak across the internet and see how that goes. Have a daughter? Throw her info out there as well.

Maybe your right. The founding father's would have surely included a rule against this if fricking threats by messenger pigeon had been more of an issue.

I almost upvoted you because that was very funny. But inciting violence has always been against the law, and it should be.
quote:

The First Amendment guards citizens' rights to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition the government. But these rights come with limits. Certain speech or acts receive limited or no First Amendment protections, such as obscenity, child pornography, threats of violence, and speech that incites riots, violence, or insurrection.

That’s from a website that purports to explain laws.

Ridiculous

You think a person should be able to start yelling, at a crowded event, “He’s got a gun”? Of course not.

get his point, but the U.S. is not arresting people for online comments. People are losing their jobs and being publicly shamed. Freedom of speech protects you from arrest. You can be fired from your job or expelled from school, depending on the circumstances. You are still accountable for your actions. Consequences.

His point is that no one is being arrested, while they are elsewhere.

Your “but….” seems misplaced
