Article from the advocate

quote:

Karen Carter Peterson, chair of the Louisiana Democratic Party, has distinguished herself as the highest-profile Democrat in the country to outright call for a repeal of the Second Amendment. Last week, Peterson sent out a tweet with the words, “Repeal the Second Amendment.” The tweet also linked to a New York Times column by former U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, arguing for a repeal of the Second Amendment.

Never thought this would come from Louisiana even a Democrat from Louisiana. If there was anything that may lead to states seceding this is it. I know it’s a big leap to that point but this is how it all starts.

SIAP I did search. Probably belongs on the Poli board, but I figured more people on the OT would be interested.

It's not getting repealed, so let them keep whining.

Don't be surprised a liberal wanted to prove how ignorant she truly is.

I’d rather we let dogs take a shite on the voting machine than let a liberal vote. They’re of absolutely no value to anyone.

Honestly, this is the only argument worth having. At least this POS is honest enough to come out and say it. The amount the 2A has been trampled on is unrivaled and it's time we start electing people who actually give a shite about it and want to reverse anti-gun laws like the NFA. Austin Petersen and Shane Hazel come to mind.

If you want to repeal it, you should have to commit to going door to door to collect. Repeal wouldn’t get one single vote.

it would get a lot of votes

however repeal would require a constitutional amendment, which means it needs (IIRC) 38 states

I’d give up the 2nd Am if, in exchange, we got permanent repeal of Section 8 and SNAP, ended marijuana prohibition, and purged the able bodied fricks from disability.

California, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine, Illinois, Florida, Oregon, Hawaii and Washington would lose to the rest of the country. That's 38 against repeal, 12 for.

I wouldn't load up on MREs and ammo just yet.

Face it, whether you like the 2nd or not, Congress is the beeyotch of the NRA. There is approximately zero chance Congress would approve repeal, much less by the required margin. And you'd need 34 states to approve it, meaning 17 states could block it.

Ain't. Gonna. Happen.

ETA: Math is not my strong point. I think it would only take 13 states to block it.
