I have a pretty strong opinion that we shouldn't judge historical figures off today's morality standards.
What would be your time frame for that? 50 years, 100? Just curious.
I don't disagree with you FWIW

Meh. Just like Trump’s multiple marriages, we need to separate the human failings everyone has from people’s public legacies.
Nope. MLK took it to a whole nother level. Ralph Abernathy wrote in his book 'Martin was attracted to every woman he met ... except one ... his wife.'
Maybe you think Abernathy was a Republican.

I don't support Communism.
What are some of the policy positions that the Communist party holds that are different from the policy positions of the Democrat party?
Their bullet points sound pretty similar. The "oppressed" against the "oppressors"...The "rich" against the "poor"..."Workers of the world unite"..etc..etc.
What are some of the differences?

That is a difficult question and probably something that would be a case to case basis

I agree it's complicated but saying case by case basis makes it look like you would be picking and choosing based on the person and not the time as previously mentioned.

Before there was America, we were British subjects. A couple hundred years of that system being ingrained took a while to change. The accepted slavery on this continent was based in British and Spanish social order..soo..

Not the person
But the moral issue and when society shifted
Society shifts way too much for it to be a clear answer
for instance, I wouldn't judge a person that supported slavery when slavery generally accepted in society, but I would judge a person if they still accepted slavery say in the 1950s

Fair enough

He sounded a lot like Obama. Well, except for the womanizing parts.

A womanizer with ties to the soviets? Sounds like a man after Trump's own heart! No wonder Trump loves him so much!

Meh, Trumps not a preacher! Why is this thread anchored?

That doesn't matter, in fact, not supporting the democrat party may give a more unbiased view. That said, what are some of the differences you can identify between the the boilerplate communist and the democratic positions? Do you disagree with my observations of the similarities?

if he really was a communist, I think it's a disgrace that it took a communist to force democrats into upholding the Constitution of the United States.

Was he a card carrying commie or is red baiting just your granddad hallucination about uppity nigras?

Thats nice. Maybe you are being suckered? The "anti-war" movement is a cover for spreading communist ideology. Don't you find it odd that the whole anti-war movement disappeared when war monger Obama was in office?
Why do you suppose that is?
It didn’t disappear; it just became less noisy because the left is filled with Team Blue hypocrites. Plenty of us have been beating the anti-war drum for each subsequent administration.
