I dunno. I’ve known since I was a teenager. I guess I’d just assume that someone who’s as attuned to politics and foreign affairs as she is would know.

I learned it from a teacher…in school. What do you teach your students.

She got hosed. The witness was a quack.

quote:

The trial against former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters wrapped up its first week on Friday, featuring testimony by witnesses for the prosecution including IT professional Gerald Wood.

Peters, who is charged with crimes related to making a copy of an election database because she was concerned that not keeping the files for two years would violate the law, hired Wood to help her with technical issues. However, Wood repeatedly stated he couldn’t remember much when her attorney cross-examined him.

Wood, who ended up not performing any work for Peters, spent much of his time on the witness stand distancing himself from the appearance that he was involved with Peters bringing in an outside IT expert to observe an upgrade of the Dominion voting machine software since prosecutors alleged that a leak of computer bios passwords took place after IT expert Conan Hayes allegedly used Wood’s key card to enter the area where the upgrade was performed.

Peters’ attorney, John Case, confronted Wood about his claims of little involvement with the upgrade, which is also known as imaging. “Did you brag to Joe Oltmann that Conan Hayes used your key card to do the imaging?” Case asked. Wood responded, “No.”

Oltmann is a podcaster who focuses heavily on election integrity and reportedly will be called as a witness for the defense. Case said the alleged bragging took place when Oltmann was on the same plane as Wood, returning from a symposium on election fraud put on by Mike Lindell in South Dakota in August 2021.

Case tried to show with his cross-examination that Wood feared being prosecuted himself, so Wood testified to a grand jury against Peters after obtaining an immunity agreement with prosecutors. “Without this immunity agreement, you would have refused to answer questions before the grand jury based on your Fifth Amendment right?” he asked. Woods responded, “True.”

When Case asked Wood about a Signal group that Wood appeared to be in along with other IT professionals and Peters, Wood acted like he did not remember, even though Case showed Woods that his phone number was part of the group chat, connected to Wood’s Signal username “Trebuchet.”

Wood explained to Case that he used the nickname since he liked what it represented. “It is a medieval siege engine for throwing rocks to a great distance,” he said.

Case asked him, “Were you part of a group known as the Tech Team? Do you recall that?” Wood responded, “I don’t recall any of this.”

Tina shouldn’t have broken the law because of her foolish fealty to Donald Trump. That wasn’t a wise thing to do…

It's not really directly relevant to politics.

I never heard the term until Trump's first term...maybe Obama's. It only became somewhat associated with politics by emotional appeals of hyper partisanship and feigns of outrage.

The status has literally nothing to do with actual politics, policy, etc.

AI Overview
Tina Peters was the Mesa County Clerk and Recorder and therefore the designated election official for the 2020 presidential election.

Tina Peters was the designated election official for that election. Her responsibility as the designated election official was to preserve and store the data from the voting machines for 25 months. She feared that others were attempting to delete the data which would show fraud . She accessed the machines in May of 2021 six months after the election. Not only did she have the right to access that data, she had a responsibility to preserve the data for 25 months as the designated election official. The fact she is in prison is bs and the doj needs to launch serious investigations into what happened.

Dude from like 2003 to 2013ish every morning show or sporting event would occasionally feature a feel good story from a “gold star mom.”

True, but if you even tangentially pay attention you should probably know the term.

Proper preservation =/= creating a scheme to use another party's ID to access the data to transfer the data to a 3rd party. Oh yeah she did all of this in secret and even had the cameras turned off. You think that's proper preservation procedure for public records?

If that is truly a copy/paste of an AI response, I'm assuming it's Grok, and it shows the limitations of Grok and its over-reliance on tweets as legitimate.

You’re welcome. I seriously assumed most people knew the term.

For future reference a “Blue Star Mom” is someone who currently has a son or daughter deployed in a war zone.

HeadCall derailed it by launching personal attacks because I asked a question directly related to the thread.

Was she the dedicated election official? Yes. Did she have the right to access the data as the designated election official? Yes. As the designated election official, is it her job to preserve the data for 25 months? Yes. Now ask yourself why she didn't have access to data that it is her job to not only have access but to preserve it. As far as third parties every state and county that use voting machines have contracted third party's that do that work. Who has the authority to grant that third party access. The designated election official. Who was that ? Tina Peters.
