Thanks, I didn't know that. But I'll bet the discussion on the name change included the implication of a 'Rhodes Scholarship.'

They certainly aren't spending a lot of money correcting those assumptions!

Yes, Rhodes is the campus in Midtown that looks like castles.

Found a Gen X'er. Only someone in High School / College in the 90's would quote the Boodhound Gang.

Even the soy boys at Millsaps thought Rhodes was full of pussies.

Imagine being so self centered and so idiotically polarized that you can’t see the honor that a fellow alumnus is being considered for a seat on SCOTUS

This got me thinking about my decision. I almost accepted the offer from SW/Rhodes. At Centenary I met some people from Memphis but they lived in a suburb called Germantown and they didn't see a good future for Memphis.
BTW, you are one of my 'must read' posters.

Rhodes College avoids partisanship and touts the value of a Rhodes education in preparing someone for possibly someday being nominated to SCOTUS

Rhodes is run by a bunch of liberal fruitcakes now. They’ve just been backed into a corner here with this alumni being touted for the SCOTUS. They are the opposite of non-partisan and have been that way for quite awhile now. My father is an alum and donated a healthy amount of money to them until they started going down the path of radical liberalism.

This reminds me of a guy I knew who went to Samford, the little school in Birmingham, AL, who would sort of mumble the name quickly when people asked him where he went to college and would never say anything when they acted real impressed.

Most of the wealth in Memphis metro lives in East Memphis and Germantown. And your friends were right about the future of Memphis.
