I ain't embarassed....I loved the taste of pork when I was a rugged, self reliant job producer....I didn't like the idea of anyone else getting any but I liked the shite out of mine!

Why would I be embarassed for realizing that entitlements and subsidies in red states have a significant impact on those states economies?

I love these threads. First off, there are blue states and red states, but there are plenty of red folks in blue land, and blue folks in red land. That is what matters, because PEOPLE ultimately receive the money, not states. The south was the PRIMARY focus on the war on poverty, and so it follows that a lot of federal dollars go there. Likewise, I would wager that the huge businesses in California, NY, etc are populated by republicans.

What is included in those numbers? I see Texas as a taker in your chart and the only way that math works is if you are including fed spending on defense (military bases in Texas). Without that Texas sends up a dollar and gets back about 80 cents.

Liberals are trying to say that blue folks' money is sent to red folks, when in reality it is red folks in blue states get their money stolen so that blue folks in red states can use it.

Because their economies would be far better without the entitlements and subsidies with the leeches either emigrated out, or back to work, or taken care of by their families.

It's not really a red/blue issue. But feel few to continue the jersey wearing, face painting, rah-rah my team is better politics.

Riiiiggghhhhhhttttt...that is why nations without entitlement subsidies are called third world nations....lots of them just a little bit south of us.

But seriously....do you have any evidence that the Louisiana (or any state) economy would be better if you suddenly eliminated all federal entitlement programs? Seriously, what would all of those section 8 housing owners do for tenants? Where are all the low wage employers going to find viable employees? Certainly your not suggesting that Wal-Mart and McDonalds actually pay an employee enough for that employee to survive on their own, are you?

What about the 16,000 employees at Fort Polk and their $600 Million Payroll or the $4.5 Billion spent on military bases in the state? Are you seriously suggesting that the Louisiana economy would be better off without that spending and those jobs?

This is the truth...so the red folks in blue states ought to tell their red state counterparts to start pulling their share of their own shithole's economic woes instead of taking red people in blue states money....

No surprise.
Right wing economic policy consists of 2 items:
Low taxes for the wealthy.
Massive corporate welfare, paid for by the middle class, disguised these days as tax breaks.
That's it.
And it bankrupts the nation every time they have the power to put it in.
So the states who use that approach have to take.

Texas receives AMPLE benefits from that military spending...about $14 Billion alone and another $4 Billion in the space program. Throw in another $20 billion in unrelated federal contracting in the Lone Star state that has nothing at all to do with entitlement programs and there is an awful lot of federal pork in a state that loves beef so much....

LA is poor with or without federal money. You can't have a welfare state UNLESS YOUR COUNTRY IS WEALTHY.

100% of african nations have universal healthcare. 100%. But healthcare is nowhere to be found there. Why? Because the government has no way to get the money, since the private sector is so poor.

Europe's immense wealth is the ONLY reason why they can afford such extensive safety nets.

WEALTH IS A PREREQUISITE FOR SAFETY NETS. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT, PUNKBITCH?
frick you!

It is a freakin' gold rush.....I doubt seriously if many of the posters here belong to their local chambers of commerce (most of the GOPers on here think the Chamber is a socialist organization these days) but if they did they would know that the businesses who belong to the Chamber LOVE the idea of federal spending....for any reason. Entitlements? Hell yeah...I own a chain of grocery stores or a bunch of rental properties...Military base? hell yeah...I am an AC contractor and those federal employees love them some AC....it is all smoke and mirrors and the people who run the states these modern day secessionists live in would run their secession talking asses out of the state in a heartbeat if the talk ever got serious. There ain't no rugged, self reliant job producers...almost all businesses are in the business of getting in on the money grab that is trading with the federal government and those who are eligible for entitlements. The average plumbing contractor in the US is more of a welfare queen than anybody who ever lived in a housing project.....

Hard to believe a guy claimed an LLC is a corporation...twice....I mean...to be confused about something so basic doesn't bode well for your economics acumen.

Yes my highbrowed friend....and the new nation of Louisiana would be even poorer and would have even less of a safety net than it does today....thus it would be akin to a third world country...except it wouldn't be because the United States already has one festering cesspool of corruption and poverty on its southern border and another one is simply not tenable....

germandawg thinks that federal money grows on trees. He doesn't grasp that federal money would have been used whether or not the government confiscated it. He is a dirty kraut, and krauts, historically more than any other peoples, worship statism/militarism.
