Look, this isn't difficult to understand. The Philistines took the area over long before Mary's time. It was known as Palestine for 400+ years leading up to Jesus' birth, during his life, and had it's name officially changed to Palestine shortly after his death. So no, it shouldn't be called by something else. That is how it was known (again, the REGION, not any one specific state) during the timeframe in question.
