And she would be wrong.

Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a first-century Jewish woman of Nazareth in the Roman province of Galilee (modern-day Israel). Ethnically and religiously, she was an Israelite belonging to the tribe of Judah, and was a descendant of King David

Repeating it doesn't change the facts of the matter.

This is what you said and it simply is not true.

The word was in use for more than 400 years before the time of Christ. Used to describe the precise geographical location.

The word was “Philishtim” and referred to the Philistine people, who have zero connections to either Jews or modern day “Palestinians”. In fact, the Philistine people were of European decent, most likely Greek,

I have said this multiple times in this thread. If you aren't reading the thread, just shut the frick up because you're wasting time.

quote:

At the time of Christ, the area you are trying to call “Palestine” was a Roman Provence named “Judaea” and its people were almost exclusively Jewish. The actual term “Palestine” didn’t exist until 135 AD when,

Again, false. The state was Judea, the region was Palestine. This is well established and the word "was in existence" for more than 400 years before the birth of Christ.

quote:

I’m sorry this truth lays bare the lie of your political ideology, but the truth is the truth. The fact you can’t accept it, only means you’re more beholden to your political ideology than the truth.

You have no fricking clue about what this says about my ideology because you haven't read this frickin thread. If you had you wouldn't be repeating the same shite I have been saying myself thinking that it scores some stupid debate point or other

I think you're too stupid to realize that Palestine was a region and that there have always been more than Muslims living there. I also think you're a brainwashed sheep who is far too lost to think about this beyond your own preconceived notions.

No it didn't. I have already provided a list of the people who recognized it as such during the time of Christ. I'm not going to do so again. If you people cannot be bothered to read this thread that is on you.

You frickin retards still cannot differentiate between the state of Judea and the region of Palestine. The region was known as Palestine before, during, and after the time of Christ with the state of Judea being named Syria Palestine after his death.

Who was the king of Palestine at that time?

Actually your list, more than half of them predate the time period we are discussing, so those don't count.

As for the rest, i have no idea of the veracity of your claim.

1) provide links to these claims
2) how does a cartographer supersede the Roman Empire and their appointment of a King of Judea?

The word in use before 135 AD was not “Palestine”, it was “Peleset” in Egyptian or “Pelishtim” in Hebrew. Greeks called the area “Palasitine”. Assyrians called it “Palashtu”.

All forms of the name referred to a group of people named the Philistines. The Philistines, as I’ve already explained to you, were of European origin and migrated to the area during the Bronze Age.

Also, the area known as “Plistina” was not The whole region. Nor did it consist of what is modern day Israel. Instead it was split in two and sat north and south of the Jewish kingdoms. You had the Phoenician city states of Byblos, Beirut, Sidon, and Tyre in the north in what is now modern day Syria. South of those in the Gaza area were the Philistine city states of Ashdod, Ashkelon, and Gaza. Between the northern and southern Philistine city states was the kingdoms of Israel with its capital in Samaria, and the Kingdom of Judah, with its capital in Jerusalem. Both the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah were Jewish and sat in what is now modern day Israel.

At no time before the 600s AD was there a sizable Arab presence in any of these areas. It wasn’t until 634 AD when Arab Muslim armies invaded this area that a sizable Arab population was present. By the time Arabs arrived, it had been the Jewish homeland for well over 1,200 years.

Down vote it all you want. But it won’t change the facts.

Hold your horses, chief. You're still stuck back at square one. Once you figure this out we can then move on to how you were wrong about Josephus.

BTW, none of these states had an Arab population.

You should have a look as well I suppose.

As for the rest, I didn't read it because you haven't read this frickin thread. If you had you would have already realized that the crux of my entire point is that the original Palestinians were frickin European. Instead, you accuse me of having a political bias. Politics has nothing to do with this.

So, by your logic, one could rightfully say that Mary, and by extension, Jesus, were European?

Old maps are cool. Check this one out that was created by Strabo from his work entitled Geohraphica.

They weren’t Palestinians, they were Philistines. No one called themselves “Palestinians” then. The closest thing to that term was the Greek pronunciation, and it simply referred to the city states controlled by the Philistines that lay both north and south of the Jewish kingdoms of Judah and Israel.

No. More like, they lived in an area that had been conquered by Europeans and had been known by the name associated with those conquerors for more than 400 years before they were born. Very similar to how if someone called you a North American instead of the name of whatever Native American tribe once held the land where your feet currently stand.

By the time Mary and Jesus came along the Philistines had already been absorbed into the local Levant populatuon's gene pool, but the entire region was still known as the land that those Greek sea-faring peoples had conquered.

Your copy/paste is completely irrelevant. Again, as i stated before, i never claimed phillistines were not referred to as Palestines. You calimed i did, please link where i did.

Either way, none of that matters because at the time of Jesus, that area was known as Judea. That is the key point that destroys your argument. You have no proof to even deny this. Josephus, the Bible, and every historian referred to this area of the world at the time period we are referencing as Judea. Nazareth is in Galilea, northern modern day Israel. Mary was not Palestinian in any source except for Mamdani's wife, and apparently, you. The people of the time and place we are discussing lived in Roman Judea. Under the Roman empire, Herod was appointed as King of Judea or "King of the Jews" which explains his persecution of the Jews during the massacre of the Inoocents.

You can claim all you want that "but it was phillistines and phillistines became palestines". Ok, but that predates the birth of Jesus Christ.

Pompey conquered Judea 63 BCE
Herod was installed as King 37 - 4 CE
Direct Rome province 6 CE
Major revolts 66 CE and 135 CE
Renamed Palestine as punishment for Jewish revolt 135 CE.

That is the unequivocal timeline. Do you dispute the timeline? Or will you skip that part of this post and continue to argue another inconsequential tangent that does not move the needle?
