with tricky dick it was his own party leaders that met with him and told him his actions were unacceptable and that he would have to step down, compare that with BC or BHO whose party,as well as the msm, whored themselves to protect them.
.
That is all you need to know between the 2 party's

He's got Michael Cohen and David Pecker saying he directed campaign finance crimes.

That's not evidence. That's hearsay.

Sure, but that was at the very end. They carried Nixon's water until they couldn't anymore.

Eyewitness testimony is evidence. Cohen would know what Trump directed him to do, no?

Sigh. You just made my point for me.
OP's question doesn't require that anyone be guilty of anything at all. He asked if supporters tend to draw up protectively when attacked.
That's it. This has zero to do with whether Trump (or Nixon for that matter) is actually guilty of anything.
God you people can't think straight sometimes.

What did he direct Cohen to do?

Not really. You're under the assumption I'm a Trump supporter.
I'm not.
I just like pointing out disingenuous bullshite.

you need to bone up on your legal terminology.
There is evidence that Trump engaged in crimes, he has one co-conspirator stating so under oath.

thanks Wolfhound and TigerDoc. that's a straightforward answer.

(and I agree no foul till proven)
. . . however ever since we've haD Nixon's "I am not a CROOK" (and for that matter Clinton's, "I did not have sexual relations") a President's word is not as sacrosanct as it once was. Trump want's us to believe him, take his word that nothing happened, and you have to be honest all the way across the board for that to happen.

Hey Pinkie, if you are a fair and honorable person who is against all illegal behavior we would need to investigate all parties. You do want a fair tolerant country, correct? Liberals are always worried about discrimination and fairness, why should Trump be picked on?

I'm with you 100%. I don't believe damn near anything Trump says.
But until there is hard evidence that Trump has committed a crime he is innocent and comparing him to Nixon is assinine.

Obama 1000 times worst or something like that.

I see a bunch of crimes Cohen committed. I don't see anything Trump committed.
"Trump told me to do it" is not evidence. Especially for someone who is trying to get out of serving jail time.

It may not be proof, but it is evidence. Cohen says SDNY has corroborating evidence (e.g. the tape he leaked to the press, probably others). Pecker (and probably his deputy too) has sworn that the stories they "caught and killed" were for a campaign purpose. SDNY has given Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg immunity regarding testimony from the Trump org side. Guiliani implied that there were multiple purposes including to affect the campaign. How compelling all this should be is of course debateable but it's evidence.

Nothing remotely similar
There was evidence during Watergate. This is pure angst over losing an election
