As a confirmation of the aforementioned, if the tariffs were having an impact on US prices, US inflation would be rising, but instead we are importing the deflation from China, and China is eating the costs.
And those pork farmers in Iowa are happier than pigs in slop...

Why are Iowa pork producers happy? The price of pork here is badly depressed. I suspect they are happy that the Chinese will begin buying again.

I told you these tariffs were bad for the economy and they have been. They have all but reversed the impact of the tax cuts. Our economic growth is back to Obama numbers where we hope for 1.5%-2% growth---down 30-50% from the growth numbers pre trade war.
You have displayed zero understanding of the 301 tariffs and their goals. You would not be making the allegations you are making if you understood them.
This first phase agreement is because:
1) China has passed laws about IP protection in China (a goal of the 301 tariffs)
2) China has promised to loosen banking laws allowing large US banks to do deals in China (another goal of the 301 tariffs)
3) China has loosened the requirements of forced partnerships in China allowing US multinationals to invest there and market there more easily (a goal of the tariffs)
4) China is removing some of the tariffs they put on their people regarding agriculture products from the USA and once again they will be doing what they were doing
Now all of these things are things I have told you this trade war is about. In the minds of others here the trade war was about much more. It will not create many, if any US jobs. Some jobs may be saved as US manufacturers see lower cost of inputs with the tariffs off.
Americans have paid about $35 billion more in tariffs this year than last. I am sure that the multinational US banks and corporations that will benefit from these phase 1 advances appreciate it.
I am simply happy about the prospects of the tariffs imposed on American importers by our big government are being rolled back.

Has been a goal of the US for a while as China blatantly violates IP law harming US companies which harms investors (ie anyone in the US with a 401k or other retirement plan)

Sounds like being able to expand companies into the largest market in the world will be pretty good for US investors, again anyone anyone with a 401k or other retirement plans.

If China lifts their ban on US poultry (banned in 2015 due to avian influenza) you can expect shares to rise for all poultry companies
My guess is a half billion in sales easily based upon 2014 numbers.
It was BS they have not lifted the ban in 5 years as every other country does.

If you knew anything about steel production, scrap prices shite the bed right after the Bejing Olympics and China stopped buying scrap metal and any steel from outside. Now it may have taken a year to work through the system but they definitely dropped. It is the crappiest market in almost 20 years right now for steel, GLOBALLY.

I did not say there were bad things.
I said they are not things that I believe US citizens should be punished with tariffs to achieve.
They are not things that most here would have said were the goals of the tariffs.
They are not things that enhance our security or create jobs in the US.

What is your point?
Americans importing from any country pay 25% more for steel than do their foreign competitors due to the 232 tariffs. Do you think someone making an end product in the USA that contains steel can compete with a European company for example?
