I’m with you on making redistricting only once per decade. Congress can and should.

I dont think you guys get lol. In other states, they can take this up if they so desire or get sued [eventually[ but since most are Republican, it will just get done, when and how is the only question.

With La. the SCOTUS just stated those maps are Unconstitutional, they will have to redraw the maps now.

No we get it. The maps have to be redrawn. The question is how to proceed when there’s currently a primary election for congressional seats going on in which mail in ballots have already been sent in and an early voting period starting Saturday.

Do you suspend/cancel the current and try to redraw the maps before session ends and move the congressional engagements back to a jungle primary that happens in November once the new maps are passed and nullify the mail in ballots that have already been sent in? Basically start over with a brand new election, districts, and qualifying dates.

If the congressional race has to go to jungle primary do you make the senate go back to that too? If you don’t you open the door for someone to potentially turn around and qualify to run for the congressional seat she was leaving if she doesn’t make the runoff in the senate race.

The SCOTUS ruled the district was unconstitutional there’s no going back on that but what happens if whatever fix Louisiana comes up with to follow the ruling and be able to get through this election cycle ends up getting challenged and holds the process up further?

This is could end up being a huge clusterfrick…. Not that that would be anything new or something unexpected from my home state

Hey! I won’t have that kind of rhetoric in my thread. Calling the poster you were replying to that term is an insult to the mentally handicapped.
