re: Psychiatric nurse from the VA on the shooting

It blows my mind that grown adults post on social media (every platform except this one, of course) whatever it is on their mind. The world was a better place before Facebook and the likes.

I have an X account simply for browsing news stories and post on here. No Facebook. No instagram. All of my political thoughts are restricted to my wife, coworkers, and friends through normal conversation. You’re asking for headaches posting anything politically related on social media.

There’s a super fine line here. First, I’m no fan of cancel culture. Second, almost every business or public service employer has a social media policy. They’re pretty boiler plate and state you can’t just go and post anything you want which can be linked to the business and keep your job. He definitely violated it and deserved to lose his job.

All that said, where I draw the line, and let’s be honest we know it happened, is going after friends and family. People hide behind their computer screens and post some horrendous shite at people who have nothing to do with the offending remark other than being a family member or acquaintance. That’s the shite that needs to stop. Sure, the Dems have been doing it to the right for far longer, but does tit for tat make it any less wrong?
