just cancelled mine ... easy AF

Here's why:

quote:

Yelp is experimenting with a crude social credit system. That’s bad enough, but this one is completely unmoderated. There is no way to tell if a business owner is the victim of false accusations (say, by a competitor who wants to hurt his sales). Last year, a court ordered Oberlin College to pay a local bakery $11 million when it lost a libel suit over the college falsely accusing the bakery of racial profiling — this, after a handful of black student activists ginned up false stories to hurt the bakery. Hurt it they did, especially when Oberlin joined in the boycott.

that Oberlin vs the bakery case was crazy. Those idiots that were in charge at Oberlin just threw away tons of money because of their blind hate and arrogance.

That's nothing new in politics or taxpayer funded entities but Oberlin is private and I'd be pissed as hell if they were pissing away my donation.

Then again, the people donating to Oberlin probably aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer. And the drawer is where we keep the shitty knives.

Didn't realize Yelp was still around until this story broke a week or so ago. Can't remember my login.

The only yelp account I ever had was a burner account I created to blast a cleaning service my wife used. Their people didn’t clean and instead got drunk off of my beer.

I ignore Yelp reviews for my business and have never used yelp. It is a bunch of insufferable people. South Park nailed the Yelp episode perfectly.

Now I do care about my google reviews.

Can’t cancel what you don’t have.

I give restaurants my own review.... when I sit down and eat there.

I don’t need some swarmy frick that doesn’t know BBQ from pot roast complaining about a restaurants cocktail selection telling me if I should eat there or not.

Yep, me too. I received an email shortly following the cancellation asking for feedback as to "why"? So I explained it to them in clear language that even an idiot could understand ....
