It will be interesting to see how the US decides to handle this stuff in the future.
The way I see it is eventually we won't even have soldiers. I know people like to think there will always be a necessary human element for judgment calls or whatever, but I'm not so sure.
As we build more, and better, drones and with the introduction of the Space Force, I can easily see a time coming when we start shutting down military bases in foreign countries. They'll be unnecessary.

Space Bases likely more efficient. Not necessarily healthy for the Human Species.
