I’ve run into a number of twenty-something Catholics who - like many of their generation- feel the “rights” of all our new sex-based political tribes take precedence over the position of the church. The rock band swayer churches haven’t helped things with their “contemporary” approach to Christian morality and neither has the faithfully inconsistent current Pope. They are pro-life but don’t feel like they need to fight for that belief politically. They all frothed at the mouth, however, at every Trump personality flaw.

Sorry to say, but Catholicism and Christianity are NOT synonymous.
Having said that, if Catholics would abide by traditional catholic doctrine, they would be closer value-wise and morality-wise. But Catholics haven’t done that for centuries.

I can't understand why millions of people over age 50 who are voting democrat still believe they're voting for the democrat party of +30 years ago, it's like they've convinced themselves it's still 1976 and a dude like Jimmy Carter is the type of democrat running for office. I had a old acquaintance who's a retired Teamster tell me the other day that Trump's tax cuts filled the pockets of the billionaires. I just kinda laughed and said, I'm just a working stiff and Trump's tax cuts saved our household several thousand dollars. He then said something about billionaires getting more benefit from the tax cuts, rather than point out the obvious that of course they will get more benefit because they're generally paying a lot more taxes, I just let it go. I wonder if my old buddy realizes that the billionaires he's bitching about receiving all those tax cut dollars are in large part supporters of Dim policies?
