I know Peanut is getting all the attention, but Fred makes me sadder personally (they're both a sad story and a disgrace to government)

My sister has a pet raccoon they've raised since it was a baby, and it is the most loyal pet I've ever seen. It's very sweet and likes to play with their 3 children, and since they have dexterous hands the raccoon can play with the same toys as their children so they play with her all day. The youngest kid is 2 years old and the raccoon and her sit on the floor and play with blocks and all sorts of other kids toys together.

They make great pets if you raise them from birth or just after. Their raccoon is dog-like and comes when called, will go on walks with them around the block where the raccoon just runs alongside the stroller without a leash, and can be let out in their yard unsupervised to eat bugs and pick weeds out of their landscaping to eat.

The best part is that they don't have to buy any special food for it, or any food at all. Raccoons have evolved to eat pretty much anything so they feed her all their leftovers and food that's gone bad in the fridge, and that raccoon is fat and happy.

This makes me overly very sad to see that cute raccoon and squirrel that weren't hurting anyone be put down. How disgusting.
