The robbers then pistol-whipped King and kicked him while the man’s wife, who is eight months pregnant, retreated into the bedroom.
“When he came toward the back door in her line of sight, she clipped him,” King told the outlet. “He made it from my back door to roughly 200 feet out in the front ditch before the AR did its thing.”

That always throws a monkey wrench into the "only need 1 or 2 shots" or you can't defend against 2 or more intruders and last but not least, "a woman can't use it unless it's a revolver" crowd.

Fleeing is the first instinct of someone who’s shot, especially if they’re not expecting to be. Although, luck did play a role here, “luck favors the prepared.”

What a great happy ending. It is sad as the couple/family that they busted in on don't look wealthy. It must have been crack heads out of their mind.

It reminds me that in NC if you have posted no trespassing signs-- less questions are asked shooting someone on your property, as long as they are not shot in the back.
