With the obvious timing that LSU and Southern football seasons are coming to an end, and the apparent prepping for a release of the findings, I think it would be interesting to evaluate responses to the potential findings.

How will you feel and act if:

A. There is no new evidence or information beyond what was seen in the video (ie. Alton failed to comply, was fighting with officers after being tazed, and tackled, and then was fatally shot while 2 officers were over the top of him )

1 officers found guilty of murder and arrested
2 officers found to have used excessive force and are fired but not imprisoned
3 officers found to have used excessive force and reprimanded but remain on force
4 officers cleared of wrong doing as force deemed appropriate

-or-

B. New information is identified in the investigation (ie, Alton did in fact have a firearm, he was reaching for it or even possibly fired it in his pocket while trying to withdraw it).

1 officers found guilty of murder and arrested
2 officers found to have used excessive force and are fired but not imprisoned
3 officers found to have used excessive force and reprimanded but remain on force
4 officers cleared of all wrong doing as force deemed appropriate

What do you expect the immediate, local, and bussed in community response to be based on the above possible results?

I didn't read all that, but let me tell you will happen. There will be no indictment. BLM will protest. BRPD and LSP will go ham again. MSM will talk about militarized police. A week or two will go by of this, and then everyone will go on their merry way and Alton Sterling will be a forgotten blip in BR's history.

Has it been confirmed that he did, in fact, have a gun?

i'll say #4

but does anyone think since the last two officers (tulsa, minn) got charged with manslaughter that it will have an affect on the findings?

In my opinion, it doesn't really matter. The standard for self-defense, regardless if your LE or not, is whether you objectively believed that you were at risk of serious bodily injury or death. The video clearly shows the police yelling "gun, gun, gun." If it is found that they objectively (rather than subjectively) believed this, then it doesn't matter. When it comes to LE, there training affords them great deference in carrying out their duties, and if their training led them to believe he had a gun and was resisting (he was, no dispute about that), then I, and I believe any jury, would take their word for it. This is why you see police not charged in situations like Tamir Rice with a toy gun. Hindsight tells you they were in no danger, but in the moment, the standard for self-defense was met.

The facts dont matter. There will be some rioting which BRPD will handle better than Baltimore and Ferguson and it will be over in a few days

Oh, I know there will be. Even if he had a gun there will be. See my previous post on how I think the public will react. I was just speaking to legality of it all.

Hillar Moore has their back. I think no charges will be passed down.

Both of those officers were charged under state law (not the DOJ), so I wouldn't think they would have any bearing on this investigation. If it was the DOJ charging those officers and making the decision here, then you could say there was/is a possible pattern, but that's not the case. There very well may be pressure from the DOJ, but I thought the EBR DA turned the case over to the DOJ completely. I could be wrong about that though.

From the video, I seriously think Sterling's gun went off in his pocket during the struggle which caused the officer to shoot.

As do I from the sounds I heard and the reactions that I saw in the video. However, that should be definitively proven on the autopsy as he would have powder burns and a concussive injury to the tissue and possibly an actual GSW in his thigh if that was the case.

B4. There will be at least one hole in Sterling's shorts pocket and residue from his firing his weapon.

I figured BRPD would have released that info already if it had happened. Either way though, they will riot.

Yep, I'm expecting B4 also for those reasons. I expect the local community to deny the truth and spout conspiracy theories that cops planted the evidence or intentionally doctored the autopsy reports due to institutionalized racism. I expect a contingent to protest, the protests to attempt turning violent and possibly looting but I feel BRPD and the full force of surrounding LEO's to combine to keep the civil unrest at a minimum. I expect BLM to protest the findings across the country and many persons to spout falsehoods on social media while calling all involved racists.

I expect to see some spill over of the protests nationally and for those protests to be spurred on by some unrelated recent or new police action where a black person dies.

I expect our current president to say nothing to calm the unrest and only fuel the fire by making inappropriate blanket statements about LEOs needing to build relations not break them down in black communities.

All that anyone needs to be concerned about at this time is the response to the mass gatherings that we know will happen, no matter what the outcome of the investigation. Police have a duty to stand by and let folks yell and scream. That's the right of the people. Protesters have a duty to stay out of open streets, don't break anything and don't create a credible threat to the safety of the officers. If everyone does their duty, everyone will be ok.

The FBI was waiting for LSU and Southern football seasons to end. Reason for this is because 60-70% of the forces are used for the games. Another reason local officials asked to hold the decision off is because law enforcement have been going through a lot of riot and protest training. I have a very good friend who is with local PD. He himself has went through over 100 hours of training.

Both officers are going to be cleared of any wrong doing. Expect the protests to be just as heated if not more than the last round. You can also expect BRPD and local enforcement groups to be even more firm than they were when all this shite went down the first time. Rest assure, they are going to lay the fricking smackdown on these animals this go around.
