the Supreme Court.

quote:

Pramila Jayapal: We cannot "uphold our democracy" until we eliminate the "Jim Crow legacy filibuster" "40 mostly white men, who represent 12% of the country's population in the United States Senate, can block us from actually reinstituting voting rights, reforming the Supreme Court, and doing all of the things that are required for us to uphold our democracy."

The first filibusters to delay action on legislation occurred in the very first session of the Senate, 1789. But ... "Jim Crow era"

Yep, she's off on the timing of the first filibuster 'silo,' but only by 175 years.

Doesn't congress need permission from the Supreme Court to pack the Supreme Court?

Why would they allow this?

What is the mechanism?

I was under the impression that the USSC had jurisdiction to strike down anything passed by Congress (in this case being under the umbrella of checks and balances).

This is an honest question as I haven't seen this done in my lifetime.

I hope we don’t regret not redistricting a couple more seats and Thune’s traitorous behavior.

Just asking…what if Trump came out and said okay, let’s pack the Supreme Court and here are my SC justice candidates.

How fast would the D’s start crawfishing on this point? Get them on record saying they are now against increasing the number of SC justices.

Almost all of them over the age of 55 are on record against almost everything in their current agenda.

It would be worth watching the Carville meltdown.

You think the Squad would back track on their comments?

I think they would do whatever increased their power at the time, the least concern being what they have said in the past.

It would be entertaining hearing the NYC bartender abuse the English language. Boston University must be proud

Given power, of course they will. Why not? Their backs are against the wall and either the 25 million Democrat voters (illegal immigrants) they imported will be deported or Dems will take over Government power. Not rocket science.

It’s going to the street sooner or later, just like the historical record reflects.

All the moderate Republicans on this board really believe they would never remove the filibuster as does John Thune. That is how naive and ignorant many voters are, “it’s too sacred”
