Since we aren't certain on who is paying for these legislators to "not vote" on legislation, the Governor should direct the Texas legislature to have immediate and EXPEDITED hearings to determine whether these Dims have received bribes to influence their votes (i.e., nonvotes) on pending legislation.

Every Dim taking a vacation in D.C. on the dime of political operatives will be subpoenaed. If they cannot prove that they are paying for their own expenses, the legislature can then look to expel them from the legislature for receiving bribes.

The Dims will either have to show up and defend themselves and provide proof that they aren't receiving bribes to influence their legislative activities or they'll be expelled. Just from published reports, there is more than enough probable cause to surmise that they are being bribed by political operatives with a free all expenses paid unapproved luxury vacation to D.C.

Either way, it seems that the Republicans will get the quorum they need to vote in these most basic f*cking COMMON SENSE anticorruption voting laws.

My company places $ limits on gifts I receive from vendors.

I am curious if Texas has limits in place for legislators.

From your link --

1. You may not accept:

Loans, cash, or negotiable instruments other than political contributions.

Travel or lodging for a pleasure trip. (Incidental transportation such as a short ride in a car or taxi is permissible.)

I would believe that taking yours and posting pictures of it along with your food and alcoholic drinks may be construed as pleasurable trips , which would not be allowed.

B. IF THE PERSON MAKING THE OFFER IS NOT A REGISTERED LOBBYIST:

Food, Entertainment, Transportation, & Lodging: Benefits in the form of food, lodging, transportation, or entertainment are permissible if accepted as a "guest" and reported in accordance with any applicable reporting requirement. To accept something as a guest, the donor must be present. As to reporting requirements, the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor and members of the legislature are required to file annual personal financial statements on which they must report certain gifts worth more than $470.
So... who is the "host" that is supposed to be with them as their donor? This is their out.

Still stuns me that these bozos have done more (to be in trouble) than many who went to DC for Jan 6.

Every-time I recall how close I was to having gone, just to participate and knowing how the ruling party, intelligence agencies and military leaders have spun the event:

.........#1 - I would have been arrested. Just following others seems to have been enough.
.........#2 - I would have lost my job. Because that's the environment I work in. My family could survive for 6-12 months,
................but the stigma would follow with...
.........#3 - I would have a tough time trying to find a new job.

But these legislators said, 'screw my obligations to an active session and the electorate, I'm headed to DC for a 'cocktail invasion'

Mindbogglingly.

Beto raised a couple million dollars in his first day of fundraising to support their expenses in DC as long as needed. Bet most of that money came from outside Texas since he claims the average amount was around $38/domation.

Lets be clear: There is no stand off. Democrats went AWOL.

What's the punishment for military members going AWOL?

Not only that, this is a special session; so they’re only being paid a per diem of about $220.

solution is Abbott should break the law like them and hold session without them, pass the laws, stop paying them, and then let the dems spend money to fight it in court.

Declare the seats vacant. At that time, full quorum. Vote.
