By city agencies and on public property but also by private entities in places of public accommodation.
Are phone cameras now also illegal in Portland?
Yeah, it was unanimous by the city council.

The Feds can still take all the pics they need, and have been doing so. Don't see any difference, big picture.

Ummm, pretty much unconstitutional. There is NO - ZERO, ZIP, NADA - expectation of privacy in public. This is all about protecting the terrorist scum that is destroying that city.
Hey, Portlanders! How much is too much? Had enough yet?

Invasion of privacy should be unconstitutional. When satellite image facial recognition starts letting strangers on the internet Google your name to see if you're in your home watching tv or out for a walk we will wish this was everywhere
Tbh this is one of the few good things to come out of the city

Yep. Even if the current use of facial recognition technology doesn't scare you, the potential future applications should. This is a scary road to walk down.

Taking a picture is not generally a thing that is a public right which could be regulated. A government entity might be able to regulate a public right which involves facial recognition but there is nothing stopping me as a private individual from taking a photo and running it against a database of photos.
Not sure what this means, the constitution is more a public charter for the formation of government and includes specific additional rights and protections which already covered by Rights given by the Creator.
Most of government bodies have a whole slew of statutes governing privacy, generally speaking.

I am not actually opposed to this.
But I am opposed to having entitled little shits throwing Molotov cocktails at a federal courthouse and disrupting people’s lives. And they are technically in public wrecking shite, so there is no expectation of privacy.
So I guess I’m conflicted.

You really want some leftist pointing a camera at a Trump rally, or at any group/individuals engaging in traditional conservative pastimes, and having an entire list of identities spit out?
Why I agree with you, we all know this is to keep the crime mongers from getting caught.

I would be just fine if we established a federal ban on facial recognition technology in this country.

Zero issue with this at all. Seems like a conservative position as opposed to a progressive one (although we all know it is just to protect their rioters).

In Portland all they need is fecal recognition.
